My dreams are about future real life events?

There is an idea that the ego and also sensory input (and the latter gets virtually shut off in dreams) closes one off to psychic effects. When you remove the filtering on reality (be it the ego or sensory inputs), you start to become susceptible to such influences.

That's precisely correct.  The trick is actually doing it.  Because if you do it with intent, that's ego and you are done for.  Not knowing comes to mind.

It's a mental illness, and anything is a mental illness, only insofar as it causes harm to the individual or to others . I've heard, from Reddit schizophrenics, that some of their hallucinations are pleasant. But then again, some are terrifying.

Yeah but you rmissing something.  If everything is imaginary, then they are just seein stuff outside the construct.  The construct of this dream that holds everything together.  They are the ones who see the glitches in it.  So in a sense, they're not sick, they are healthier than us because they can point out that it is a dream.  Its fucked up.

Maybe some of them realize the absolute but generally speaking I think they're just paranoid people are like spying on them and maybe they have voices say to harm themselves . But traditional cultures knew how to handle such people and they became shamans , which made it into a gift rather than a curse .

I've heard that paranoid schizophrenia is a western world disease, people in the east sometimes have something similar to what we would call schizophrenia but it can actually be much more pleasant, sometimes involving seeing deities . Learned this from the r/schizophrenia subreddit.

No, the schizophrenics get cast out there too. It's the schizotypals (schizophrenia-lite) that get to be the shamans. The schizotypals are wacky enough that they can use their powers in certain settings but can turn it off and act normal enough to not be a serious problem when it's not needed.

Yes. There are degrees. There are certain schizophrenics so severe that they cannot adeqautely convey what is going on.  The ones that can be shamans are the ones with mild schizophrenia.  Severe schizophrenia willl render you functionless in everyday life.

The thing i want you to take away, as an idealist, if that's what you are.  Is that they are no difffernet than you and I. They just see things not part of the construct of this dream. But it's all a dream.

I don't want to derail too much since this is primarily a metaphysics conversation but I sincerely wish her the best . Also that thing I said about schizophrenia being less paranoid in the east I also found with a Google search . So the schizophrenics on Reddit were right. Maybe if we find out why it's that way we can find out how to help people with it.
