But you also have to consider how the business of this works. Defense contractors are happy if the military abandons those vehicles because it just means more orders next year. The incentives are perverse. They like it when expensive equipment is lost.

So do u think that the US military should’ve taken away all of the equipment they gave to the ANA before withdrawing all of 2,500 troops that were left in the country?

In practice they couldn't because if they took away all the equipment that would be like admitting total defeat without even putting up a fight. The optics of it would have been really bad and they would have been blamed for abandoning the Afghan government.

It was just a shitty situation to be in either way. There was no good political solution.
