a thought experiment about psychodelics

5 posts in this topic

An interesting (as I think) experiment:
1. What if, we take a newborn child and put him in some sort of isolation. We never tell him about God or anything like that.
2. And to the same child, we never tell him that for example, demons are bad, instead we tell him that for example, the cats are the most devilish thing.
When we give him a psychedelic will he still experience God and infinity or will he experience something else?
And if he has a bad trip will he see demons or he will see cats?
What I'm questioning here is whether psychedelics can bring any information from outside or not? if no that would mean that psychedelics its just confusing thoughts we already have. And that we have those God experiences just because we expect them to happen in our trip.

@Daniel347 Firstly, your child would either die or become severely mentally ill from that isolation box you put him in, thus making your experiment moot. Such experiments have been run.

But assuming you could magically get around that...

The child could still see devils. Nothing precludes that. But he will be very likely to see cats instead of devils, since those are the symbols more natural to him. You will tend to see and think in whatever symbols are most natural to you.

But Truth and consciousness are independent of symbols.

He will still experience God & Infinity.

He's likely to see cats during a bad trip.

Psychedelics will reveal that there is no difference between inside and outside. Certainly new information can and will be brought in, but also much existing information will be re-doubled and rehashed. There will be both new and old data.

God is not something you can expect to happen in your trip. Actual God will take you totally by surprise, regardless of whether you believe in God or not.

God is not any symbol. Cats or devils are irrelevant as far as that goes.

Rather than doing silly thought experiments, how about you do an actual experiment on yourself and realize you are God? This would solve your questions very directly.

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.

@Daniel347 psychedolics will make a person realise and feel God but not in the sense like a stone statue but in the form of infinite consciousness.

Of course psychedolics have a great impact on one's Consciousness and this is a pathway to some awesome realisations.

This is how psychedolics operate.

Psychedolics have a great healing power and they help you see reality differently.

INFJ-T,ptsd,BPD, autism, anger issues

Even the most atheistic people, (like I was) can have a God realization. Actually the belief in some sort of a God, would even delay the realization to a point. Of course depending how conscious you are.
