Why are there no boundaries in reality?

11 posts in this topic

Can someone help me to understand the way there are no boundaries in reality? I have recently reached being perception. I can see how everything is on one field (consciousness) and in this sense, boundaryless. But because I still see shapes and colors, how do these boundaries of the shapes and colors relate to boundary-less reality?

In a painting, everything is one thing. The entire painting is one thing. You imagine the distinctions. In the Mona Lisa, the entire painting is one thing, it is you who projects and creates the distinction of "Mona Lisa" and thinks of it as something separate from everything else in the painting. Everything in that painting completes each other, as one thing.

If you painted a vase, the background behind it is necessary in order to create the shape of a vase. And vice versa, in order to create the background, there must be a vase to imply that it is the background of something. Both things are necessary for each other to exist, and both things complete each other, because it is all one thing.

Same applies to real life.

"God is not a conclusion, it is a sudden revelation. When you see a rose it is not that you go through a logical solipsism, "This is a rose, and roses are beautiful, so this must be beautiful." The moment you see it, the head stops spinning thoughts. On the contrary, your heart starts beating faster. It is something totally different from the idea of truth." -Osho

@Osaid Yes, okay. I am so glad you used that example because that is how I describe/look at it as well. But so, in a painting there are different colors, foreground, and background; these aren't considered 'boundaries' right? Because the mind is just projecting them? Or, is the point where the colors/foreground/background meet/contrast one another considered to be a 'boundary'?

Also, because reality is like a painting– all on one canvas– is this what is meant by oneness

The building blocks of reality are not atoms, they are differences.

It is not that differences aren't experienced, obviously they are. It's that these differences are imaginary and change at any time.

What is salt? Salt is literally the difference you imagine between it and pepper, and every other thing in the universe. But if you realize those differences at all imaginary, there will literally stop being a difference between salt and pepper. Salt and pepper will become one thing.

Your mistake, as it turns out, was to assume that salt and pepper are distinct rigid material objects.

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.

And the one thing they will become is just consciousness, right? Or in the taste bud sense, sensation?

They will become emptiness.

Emptiness is what things are before you imagine they are different.

Emptiness is pure consciousness of course. It's like white light polarized by a prism into different colors.

In order for a foreground, color or background to exist, everything else must be present with it in order for it to exist, otherwise there is no contrast for you to make any distinction between them. When you make a distinction between those things, you ignore the other qualities that allow for that distinction to exist, and in that way, your distinction is ultimately false and imaginary, because you're imagining it as something separate that doesn't need anything else to exist.

A distinction is something you imagine to exist on its own, by itself. But, that is impossible, because any sort of distinction you make always needs something else to contrast with in order for it to exist, and so it always exists together with that thing it contrasts with, and so it is actually one with the thing it contrasts with.

You can't have a foreground without a background to contrast it, and so because of that, the foreground and background are actually one thing. In the same way, any boundary inside the painting is imagined by you and projected onto the painting, because there is only one painting.

Also don't hold to tightly to these answers/metaphors, they are not the actuality itself, hopefully pointers for you to experience what is pointed or later prepare you and not be scared shitless when it does, since you now are told of such possibilities.
