7 posts in this topic

I love YouTube and I always procrastinate on there so I used this siteblocker to disable YT and other distractions:

ATTENTION: this app is for google chrome!

I hope you can achieve your goals once you install this neat litte app, I highly reccomend google chrome too. Once you get the layout it is very simple and nice to use.

This would work however, I know i would be able to just turn it off or find an alternative. My procrastination has no bounds! haha

I think to stop doing something you've got to love the alternative xD

The thing is: if the stopping doesn't come from yourself, then no app can save you. I also procrastinate, we're in the same place regarding this. But whatever you do to stop yourself must come from the inside.

I've tried to use apps, it just did not work for me, i find another way to access the stuff or i simply closed the app.

What i do now is before i work (i work at home, in my computer) i block some sites i mostly use as a distraction from inside the windows system, this is much more hard to bypass. To do it you must:

1- stop antivirus for a while

2-open a notepad as administrator

3-open the file 'hosts' which is in Windows/System32/drivers/etc

4-under the line which says your IP and localhost you put the adressess you want to block, for every adress you add, you increment the IP by one

5- save hosts files, activate your antivirus again, you will not be able to acess those sites again no matter what navegator you use until you change the hosts file again

it should look like this https://gyazo.com/c79c80355c443b36b4cdda6adb4fc5ad

The ting is most of the time I wonder off not knowing that I'm procratinating when I use this I know ! Ho I'm procrastinating again !.

What I now do is when I need to work I set a timer for 25 minutes and then 5 min break that way I can stay way more concentrated then before.
