Purity is created when...

7 posts in this topic

Got this insight right now while meditating, thought to share.

Purity is created when we remove the self from the concept.

By mixing the self we mix the ego into our work and purpose. This purpose is now corrupted by our ego.

But when we only look at concepts, traits, properties, outcomes, principles, intentions and stop mixing them with our egoic interests, schemes and needs, they become pure.

Look at the book not the author

Look at the art, not the artist.

Look at the teachings, not the teacher.

Look at the journal, not the writer

Look at the science, not the scientist.

Look at oneness not at individuals.

@Preety_India it's challenging work to get rid of the ego. In meditative states we get the flow states, but when we touch the world, which consists of lot of collective and individual egos, it's easier to fall into the ego game. Ego is manufactured by us in fear.

See a small child, you will not see any ego, he is fluid consciousness, but slowly by experiencing the world, it's darkness, fear arises, and ego is born.

Ego is also born out of selfishness and greed, the need to one up each other. Instead of seeing the oneness in each other, we want to see how different we're from each other, moreso how better we are than the other.

Humans thrive on competition instead of oneness. That's a sad part.

But it doesn't need to be this way.

selfishness and greed,

Both are fear's children, fear of dying hungry, not having a shelter, not having the love. Yeah, as ego, isolated we try to become better than everyone else and doesn't understand that we are consciousness which is substance of reality, in Leo's words.

@Preety_India The role of spirituality is not to abolish the ego but to realise it never existed. It is an illusion. It dissolves from releasing it is no more real than a mirage of water in a desert. Attempting to relinquish the ego will only amplify it. Observing that is was always an illusion will purify ones existence.

But I agree with your initial comments. Mixing our Illusory egoic self with our experience only taints it. To see pure is to then see with no attached see-er behind it.

Can you separate the art from the artist or the book from the author

To assume that there is an independent entity who is separate from his/her creation is the creation of a separate self

Oneness always is - as an individual or as <whatever you put here>
