What are the best overall supplements to take?

24 posts in this topic

Omega 3 is useless, well not really, but it’s specifically DHA/EPA that’s useful (relatively essential to the body), however it’s not for everyone. Best supplements to take: exactly what you need, and no more. Even vitamin D should not be taken willy nilly. Magnesium sulfate is generally safe. The most important thing is the brand since non-prescription-supps aren’t exactly regulated. OK brands (but not always) = Thorne, Pure Encapsulations, Jarrow, NOW, Life Extension.

Even zinc isn’t necessarily smart as you could be on the low end for cortisol and zinc can shut cortisol down. Despite what you may have heard, cortisol is actually very important...

@The0Self I agree with most of what you say but it seems that people don't absorb magnesium sulfate at all. But it shouldn't be harmful either if it doesn't cause you diarrhea.

The problem with too much zinc is that there's a copper:zinc ratio (ideally 1:8) and too much of one will deplete you of the other.
