Addiction and Direction of Energy

4 posts in this topic

Hi, I wanted to get rid of my porn addiction. I have been trying from the past 6 years, but failing every time. After several attempts, once I was 26 days without watching porn and then relapsed. Those 26 days was really hard time for me. And I just wanted to tell about in brief what caused this addiction problem. Below is a post I started....

And I have seen here and there that, according to psychology, a bad habit can be cured by replacing the bad habit with a new one for 21 days. But that too didn't work for me. And I am also suffering from a delusion that if I watch porn, a bad news/things will happen to me. I know that's not true. But I don't know how to break it.

I have tried to do the both extremes: One way is I continuously watched porn and ejaculated 3-4 times in a single day. Other way is I stopped watching porn and ejaculation for a month( those 26 days I mentioned above). Both ways did not work for me. Also there are many instances when I was free of porn for 5-7 days but the relapses were very strong. I used to feel like I ejaculated the 5-7 days of sperm fluid just in a single ejaculation.

The thing is, I wanted to get rid of it. How can I direct the energy to other things?

@capriciousduck  so this is a profound insight I got during my first breakup.

Her thoughts kept coming in my head when I wanted to study, it was my final exams, what I did was used her thought as a reference to know I'm distracted and come back to my books.

You can use the thought of porn to come back to whatever you are doing and be more productive.

However you got to be mindful of the thought first, so I recommend learning mindfulness meditation and practicing it for ever.

FYI it takes between 21-180 days to form a new habit or even a year, the safest bet is to assume it takes a year.

@Elton Thank you very much for your answer. And one more question, do those thoughts of porn or masturbation go away after some time? let's consider that I am not addicted, then do those feelings go away when I reach a certain age(now I'm 23)?

@capriciousduck i was addicted to porn all my life, from 13 years of age untill 28.5 years of age.

Finally this year I had a break through in my personal development. I went for 90 days without porn and masturbation.

But the thoughts and feelings Don't go away, (unless you want them to) infact it becomes stronger(if you want it to) you will be attracted to girls you see even more and you will be able to ravish them even better.

All depends on what u want ...
