how long is an ego backlash?

9 posts in this topic

so for the past about 2 weeks i think I'm having an ego backlash (i procrastinate, a lot of resistance, overwhelming feelings of backsliding ...) you get the point.

i did a huge transformation in my life in almost every aspect of it and full of motivation to keep going ,but now for the last 2 weeks i still do all the practices but their not the best ex.harder to focus in the meditation and less motivation to even do one.and its been bothering me that maybe im just going back but i am trying to do the best for now while in this phase.

so i was wondering if thats an ego backlash and for how more will it stay for and if you have any tips of what to do in that situation.

Did you watch Leo's ego backlash episode?

If I am not mistaken Leo was suggesting to re-watch the episode during such periods.

Okay. That's what I noted for myself after watching the episode:

1. Label it (this is ego backlash).
2. Be mindful.
3. Do not make any major decisions when you feel emotional.
4. As much as you can try to maintain your positive habits.
5. Frame it in a positive way. This is growth.
6. Stop expecting quick fixes.
7. Apply self-love.

Last year I quit my job to pursue full time a career that aligns more with my heart, I changed countries, did my first 10 days solo retreat, did three bufo ceremonies and three of ayahuasca (plus throughout the year I did lsd and truffles) and I had an ego backlash for three months!

Too many changes in just 6 months plus experiencing God for the first time was way too much

Patience, keep on applying mindfulness, BE gentle on yourself! This too shall past
