Good books for a teenager

7 posts in this topic

Hello everyone. Today I wanted to talk about books. I just started reading books, self-help books. Do you guys recommend any specific books I should really read? Are there any books you wished you would've read if you were my age (under 16)? I already ordered the following books:
''Mastery'' by George Leonard
''The Six Pillars of Self-Esteem'' by Nathaniel Branden
''The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens'' by Sean Covey   (currently reading)

I won't put my entire booklist here, because it would just be too much. Any self-help books, biographies, religion and spirituality books are welcome.

I would recommend The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle, it's a classic for a reason.

It is a very approachable introduction to the concept of mindfulness and a non-conceptual frame of mind.

Reading Mastery at 15-16 is pretty sick. My god.

My suggestions : 1) The way of the superior man  2) A Guide to the Good Life: The Ancient Art of Stoic Joy

It amazes me how you guys are interested in self-help at such a young age. When I was 16, all I cared about was having a modified car like Vin Diesel in Fast and the furious lol.

How did you find actualized.org?

I recommend you learn about human nature and yourself.

I recommend: Iron John by Robert bly<----Book for masculinity and transitioning to adulthood and drive for life

I recommend: les giblin books of people skills, power and confidence<------Understand people's egos function and how to respect them and they respect you back and build rapport and connections. You learn about your own ego as well.

I recommend: Frans de waal books of chimpanzee politics, apes within us<---How humans still behave like chimps in everyday life, to recognize the behaviors in yourself and others and transcend them

I recommend:Robert greene books of 48 laws of power<----To understand how human relationships and power dynamics work.

I recommend:No more mr Nice guy <----Learn how to establish boundaries with others and integrate the aspects of your self.

85% of your success in live depends on how you deal with people.

15% is your skills and talents.

"Whatsoever is on it (the earth) will perish. And The Face of your Lord Full of Majesty and Honour will remain forever❤️" Quran: Surat Ar-Rahman (The Merciful)

"We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient"?Quran: Suratal Al-baqarah (The Cow)

@martin_malin I haven't read Mastery yet. I wanted to read Six-Pillars of Self-Esteem first, but thanks for the compliment.

How I found actualized.org is a nice story I think. I started having interests in meditation. Looking up documentaries about it on Netflix I discovered ''The Secret''. Turned out to be just the Law of Attraction but yeah sure call it The Secret. When I searched for ''Law of Attraction'' on YouTube, I discovered Leo's video. After watching it, I saw that he made a video about going full Buddha. I noticed that his channel isn't your typical BS self-improvement channel. I am muslim and so watched his ''What Is Misunderstood About Islam'' video. I loved how everyone all of the sudden hated him, because he made a video about a religion. The fact that he wasn't effected by it at all inspired me.

Now I am starting to read books, self-help books  and want to go beyond + go deeper in psychedelics. Since I heard him talk about the Truth, I can't stop wondering how enlightenment must feel like. Daily typical teen things don't bother me anymore. I want enlightenment. I always knew that these teen things would never satisfy me. I knew pornography and that kind of stuff was temporarily. The real deal is Truth. I heard stories about kids in my age who had already fucked, but somehow didn't seem happy at all. This explains it correctly.

Anyways, I always looked up to spirituality and always felt that connection. Never though it would occur in my life again.
