Blank Canvas

What is a painting without a blank canvas? It isn't recognised or obvious when you look at the painting, despite the fact it is as much a part of the painting, as the painting itself.

@Brimstone Everything is born out of that blank canvas.  Without silences music could not exist.  Without whiteness the black marks of writing could not spin their tales.

@Brimstone What amazes me is how most people see only the paint and totally ignore the canvas.

I was looking at this picture and thinking how existence is only a shadow of true reality.
