Fantasy Games

7 posts in this topic

I recently started diving into fantasy games like pen and papers, magic and stuff like that. And when playing these games I started to notice some things which are spiritually relevant.

For one, when I am into an imagined mission in pen and papers, I take decisions and consequences in this imagined world more serious then I would have thought. Like when something goes wrong or if we enter a dangerous situation it feels a bit unnerving and there is a thrill to it. You also feel things like guilt when you do immoral things in this imgagined world. Of course to a lesser degree. But this makes it a bit transparent that the "real world" is simply a deeper imagination.

Also when you live in a world with dragons, goblins, werewolfes and so on these things can feel kind of real. Like they are almost part of this world.

...

I love some artwork in magic btw.

apparently, some people take advantage of this phenomenon by using DnD as a therapeutic setting where players can explore new facets of their personalities and make different choices.

i found the concept really interesting, but unfortunately never received the DnD therapist's contact info to ask more questions.

I feel like I kind of play myself in pen and papers.

I play a female character and am quite feminine for a dude. And I play very methodical, careful and always find creative strategies to solve problems. The last one is something I havent really reflected about myself, that that is something I may or may not do. Maybe I should also explore different faceits of my personality... or I am already quite settled...

Imagination as a game is gonna be the next big thing.

How is this post just me acting out my ego in the usual ways? Is this post just me venting and justifying my selfishness? Are the things you are posting in alignment with principles of higher consciousness and higher stages of ego development? Are you acting in a mature or immature way? Are you being selfish or selfless in your communication? Are you acting like a monkey or like a God-like being?

@Jannes aren't you also part of a theatre group? i'd like to give something like that a go next year and imagine it could be fun.

@Jannes I know what you mean. I do a lot of writing and drawing for my stories, and I've also found that I understand different perspectives much better because I get to see all the thoughts and feelings of my characters. It's very interesting and sometimes even difficult, because I can feel their suffering too.
