That's pretty cool. I just wish Elon had stayed out of politics.

Yeah Musk has a great track record of not lying.

How convient that it coincides with the release of the Musk documentary. Trying to direct attention away from it. Also close to midterms which he is investing money in.

Don't be a brainless monkey people, it's misdirection and lies.

How much of it is fake and how much real?

He has a track record with his fake presentations, remember his full self AI robot last year.

Was exposed later that people were remote controlling it.

It is funny to me people falling in the same trick over and over again.

The video is probably a light weight shell car not weighing more then 100kg.

The way the car launches the momentum for the considered mass of a real car is not right.

But look at the bigger picture, everyone is talking about it now. If it's true, legal for real life, possible applications, bla bla bla

All misdirection, getting attention away from the damaging documentary and his influence on the midterms.

Dude, he was designing the car years ago.

Already announced in 2017 with a release in 2019.

Never did happen.

Designing does not equal launching.

Tesla: timeline of misleading claims

* 2013 — Hyperloop: Promoted ultra-high-speed tube transport reaching 760 mph; no commercial passenger system materialised.

* 2016 — Solar Roof: Showcased as a near-term product before large-scale production was achievable.

* 2016 — Full Self-Driving: Claimed hardware would enable full autonomy, despite later hardware upgrades and continued reliance on driver supervision.

* 2017 — Roadster 2: Promised for 2020; repeatedly delayed for years.

* 2017 — Tesla Semi: Promised for 2019; deliveries began in 2022, with mass production delayed.

* 2017 onwards — Boring Company Loop: Promoted as high-speed, high-capacity transport; Las Vegas instead uses human-driven Teslas in narrow tunnels.

* 2019 — Cybertruck: Advertised at $39,900 with a 500-mile range; the original price and specifications did not materialise as promised.

* 2019 — Robotaxis: Musk predicted over one million robotaxis by 2020; the promised fleet never materialised.

* 2020 onwards — Full Self-Driving: Repeated predictions of imminent unsupervised driving failed to materialise.

* October 2024 — Optimus robot: Human teleoperation or assistance was involved in many interactions, creating a misleading impression of autonomous capability.

* 2024 — Cybercab: Presented as a purpose-built autonomous taxi; the promise of scalable, driverless commercial operation remains unfulfilled.

He is not launching a car to distract you from a mid-term. He doesn't care that much about you.

It's not about the launching itself. It's the timing.

Not claiming anything about designing a car just specially for midterms.

With launching it's all about timing. Especially something that is not ready yet. Everything in corporate world is timed by marketing and strategists.

Musk does not car about common folk, that is true. But he still cares about politics because it influences his business.

I'm pretty sure Musk's timeline is: roll it out as soon as it even half-works. xD

And then it still take weeks of preparation for a press event.
A press event like this takes time to set-up Musk cannot snap his fingers and have a press-event like this tomorrow. Takes at least a month of prep.

Exactly the product only half-works, the rest of his product rests on promises that tend out not to be true or highly exaggerated.
This is just tech-bro porn that Musk is selling. All filler, no substance.

---
Before I was indifferent about Musk, I could see the things he launched were a way to move tech forward.

But benefit of the doubt is gone, it's remarkable to see how people still defend something even after trust is broken so many times.

Trust must be earned back again. This works the same for Musk, Tech-oligarchs, governments etc.
You can't break trust, time and time again and still demand people trust you.

If you want us to trust you again, prove it.
Until anything you say can't be trusted.

@OmniNaut Well, yeah, that's why I asked how much of it is fake. I certainly don't trust Musk. But I don't think he has an evil plan with the launch of his cars. He's just doing whatever works, or should I say, half-works? :D

I'm not sure, to be honest. Why should he still care about cars. He has proven already that his vision is much bigger. Cars are just a way to influence people for him.

Do I have proof, not directly, but there is so much other proven stuff of him about influencing US and world politics, that cars are just small potatoes for him.

Deep down he is a geek who just likes cool new tech.

He is living out his geek tech fantasies like a James Bond villian.

He doesn't need a bailout. He raised tons of cash from SpaceX IPO.

But if the market crashes as I expect, then maybe he will need it.
