Do you care about people's opinions?

4 posts in this topic

If you are bored to read this then answer if you want if you care about other people's opinions. If you are not bored then proceed.

At what point should people not care about what others think, and about what things?

I am not talking about doing things that put you or others in danger for doing them. I am talking about embarassing situations/humiliation.

You dance really weird and funny, people put you on a youtube video, it goes viral and millions people watch it, even people you know. Everyone laughs and insult you in the comments. In real life they see you and laugh when they see you (not loud to hear it but they remember how you danced and they find it really funny). Should you have danced or you should have avoided.

Everyone says their opinions about afterlife, most say they believe nothing exists after, others say there is a paradise and hell, then there is you that believe in eternal incarnation. You say that opinion, people look at you in a strange and weird way. Everyone want to get away from you. You feel the humiliation, you get away and think of the incident for 6 months. Should you have said your opinion? Will you feel humilated or you won't care at all?

You go to a wedding party and you want to wear something casual. You do. Everyone is dressed very well expect you. People stare at you, some smile or look in a serious or strange way. What do you do? Do you do what you want or you don't care? Even if you shouldn't have done this, let's say you did it for some reason. Should you feel humiliated or not?

You make a youtube video, you are low IQ and it looks really unprofessional and you look really low IQ. Was your life destroyed cause of this? should you care? should you feel embarassed? shoud you have done this? do you care about other's people opinions?

You get treated very badly cause of a hot high status bully, you fight back, everyone is against you cause you are low status and he is high status. Everyone ridicule you. Should you have found another way to deal with it or you don't care about the opinions of the crowd? You may have to see these people every day.

You want to do a really feminine job as a man. You know society will think something is deeply wrong with you cause you know how normies are. Do you care about their opinions or you do the job?

There are millions of examples. You could be walking weirdly, have a really feminine voice, whatever. Not all people are understanding. Maybe you are really ugly like 1 in a million ugly  that normies don't want anything to do with you (sad but it can happen), how should you feel about that.

You have a weird hobby, do you do it or do you stop doing what you love? It could be being 50 year old and want to do rollers plus you want them really pink. What do you do? Do you care about wht others think of you?

When do you care for others opinions. When should you care? How you fight humiliation and ostracization? What are the solutions? how humiliation/embarassing situations work?

I do because I am not socially out of tune like a lot of people seem to be.  But to each his or her own.  We have to deal with everyone as they are.

@Never_give_up It's hard wired in us to care about other people's opinions but you can use it to your favour. Care about opinions of people who are respectful to you.

You don't fight it, you get away from it, and go find people that don't do those things to you.

On the flip-side nobody ever died from humiliation or embarrassment. They are just sensations in your body that if not given too much attention will go away naturally. If you don't tie these emotions to your identity then you are invulnerable.

Philosophically, people who purposefully embarrass or humiliate others ultimately suffer themselves - not in a Karmic way - but because to carry out an act you have to embody it first.
