Did Eckhart Tolle get enlightened at 29 or was it a permanent spiritual awakening? Because I, and also how I've seen it defined upon looking it up, dont consider those the same thing. I looked up his case in particular now and they dont give definitive answer. 

Im curious how you see it, because enlightment to me sounds like total wipeout, no self, meanwhile permanent spiritual awakening maintains a kind of center presence......

Idk what state you’re in but I can say there’s not just self or no self so I disagree those two terms can’t be interchanged

I get what you mean.

I don't know how it feels for him. 

I think his main message is "you are not the conditioned mind/ego, you are universal consciousness". But he talks about universal consciousness in a very impersonal manner....sooo 🤷‍♂️

I understand what he is saying because that same feeling happened here temporarily, but for me it just felt like a subtle attempt of ego/self identification. That feeling fell away quickly.

Yeah, the spiritual ego is incredibly sneaky.

But what exactly do you mean by underrated? I mean, Eckhart Tolle is literally one of the most famous and respected spiritual teachers of our time.

Formally, it depends on the context and perspective; aka historically, subject domain, etc. I.e., some make very distinct enlightenment of the mind vs the heart; but this is just one lens of many others.

I can see from a personal lens however how one may see them as the same. Because its so experiential, and one's personal shift may have been a dramatic instance; so that becomes their reference frame, what they lead with. 

What have your own experiences been like?

Sounds like saying the only kind of self there is, is what the average person has. 

I wrote this to AI (not based on studying it):

"Average human has mind ego right, so when that detaches then it’s permanent spiritual awakening (if it doesn’t reattach), what’s left is still center self, just not attached to a mind ego. Then if that center self dissapears too then that’s enlightenment"

Maybe he had permanent spiritual awakening then it gradually evolved into enlightenment over time, but he perceives clearly how most people are still in the human ego, so he speaks of spiritual awakening because that is the level right below them, to help people open to that first, which is already very rare, so maybe he doesn't see much point in speaking of enlightenment. Just an impression I get.

It's not a forgetting or detaching either way.

It's clearly understanding that it was Never Real from day one.

The identification quickly/slowly ends due to that clear understanding. The energy is just no longer supplied to it. 

But there is still the memories of how it was prior. And that character can still be used sort a speak.
