Lindsay Clancy -Mother of 3 kills her kids during psychotic episode

Justice is for by fully understanding the situation. It would be unjust to allow a woman to be fed for weeks medications causing extreme damage to herself brain and nervous system which resulted in hallucinations which caused her to want to kill herself and her kids.

If my parents killed me id want to understand what happened. I’d want justice, not just arbitrary punishment.

A precedent should be set to protect people in the future by making it illegal to over prescribe medications clearly causing harm.

If I had believed that was the explanation for her behavior, I'd be open to her sharing responsibility with the medical professionals.

I just don't think it was her meds... as she seemed very cogent in her planning of the whole event.

But I agree... justice not punishment.

And for justice to be done, I think she needs to be held criminally responsible for her actions.

@Emerald How does she seemed like she planned the whole event? Was she free of the medications at the time?

Because all the events leading up to it, lack of sleep, brain toxicity, having her doses increased despite telling the doctors she’s getting and gotten worse since the medications suggest she was a ticking time bomb to kill herself or others.

You guys act like you know where the limits of psychosis is, what it should and shouldn’t look like and how long it will last and how coherent you should be. I think that is not correct.

I remember waking up as a 12 year old kid after destroying 2 chairs and the TV. I had been screaming for 35 minutes at the top of my lungs. I had a fever and thought I was in hell. I didn’t choose to do those things.i have no memory of it in this case.

I think it’s clear the doctors, many of them are in clear malpractice.

That's already the case. Her psychiatrist is probably cooked in the upcoming malpractice lawsuit. Her cross examination was a train wreck.

But your kind of zoning in on two different dialogues. I don't think it's obvious that medical malpractice means there's no culpability.

@Basman I think there is. Sanity isn’t a given when you give medications.

Reading her experience with doctors having watched many documentaries on the dangers of the medications was heart breaking. They totally failed her and the kids. They couldn’t have foreseen her doing that, but she destroyed her mind. Kept shoving pills into an already overloaded, toxic and inflamed system.

I feel for the pyscho child murderer too.

If you understand evil you can empathize with it, because you know it's unconscious and detrimental to the human it exists in. But that doesn't mean you have to get lost in the empathy. You can feel empathy AND prefer justice at the same time.

"People of the Lie" by Scott Peck is a good look into the psychology of evil.

What if this is just fascination + identity + seriousness being inflated into universal importance?

@Emerald Did you look into the medical history and notes regarding the medication and her brain toxicity?

If you think she did on in a sober mind what was her motive?

Yes, I'm aware of what medications that she was prescribed. I'm also aware that her toxicology report, where she had taken 5 or 6 of the many medications she was prescribed.

And there are conflicting expert testimonies surrounding the question of, "Did the drugs in her system cause psychosis?"

I personally don't think that a person who is under such a strong influence from all those drugs to invoke psychosis would have the wear-with-all to calculate the dynamic with her husband. My read of it was that she created a plan and acted upon it.

And then, the drugs and medical institution becomes an easy scapegoat to pin the blame on.

But only Lindsay Clancy knows her motive for sure. I have my own speculations, of course.

But drug-induced or non-drug-induced psychosis is NOT the only motive that could exist.

Do you believe that her only potential motives involve psychosis? Or do you see the possibility that something else could be motivating her?

My concern is that a lot of people seem to be defaulting to the psychosis explanation because they don't believe a mother is capable of killing her children in cold blood without being in a state where she's unable to tell right from wrong.

It's kind of similar to why no one expected that Lizzie Borden murdered her family way back in the day... as she was assumed too delicate a flower to have done something so heinous.

But a mother who kills her children could have a variety of motives...

  • Get the children out of the way because she doesn't like them
  • The kids are annoying her or disrupting her lifestyle
  • Wanting to take the kids with her when she kills herself so that they can be together with her after death
  • Wanting a clean slate
  • Just enjoys killing like a serial killer
  • Mad at the children for embarrassing her
  • Fears that she won't be able to find a romantic partner if she has kids

Those aren't specific to Lindsay Clancy. But they are all motives for mothers killing their kids that would not be written off in courts as legal insanity, such that it dismisses them from criminal responsibility.

I'm not encouraging vigilantism by having an opinion about a public court case.

You're being very silly about this.

Also, you didn't answer my questions that I asked before...

Do you recognize that a mother who kills their children COULD have other motives beyond insanity?

Do you default to "innocent" in the case of every single court case you've encountered?

Women are convicted all the time for killing their kids, that's such a bullshit fallacy

Jeanie Ditty: Sentenced on August 21, 2026, to life in prison without parole in North Carolina. The active-duty soldier was convicted of first-degree murder and felony child abuse in the death of her 2-year-old daughter.

Niesha Walls: Pleaded guilty on August 26, 2026, in Cleveland, Ohio, to involuntary manslaughter, felonious assault, and child endangering after authorities found her 2-year-old son dead of severe starvation and her two older children profoundly malnourished. Her sentencing is scheduled for September 30, 2026.

Canoria Moss: Sentenced in June 2026 in Detroit, Michigan, to up to 10 years in prison for her role in the fatal child abuse and murder of her 8-year-old son.

My prayers are reserved solely for the young children whose last moments are too horrific to be imagined - planned in advance by their own mother.

I always prefer justice and as an eye for an eye guy I think strangling her in a small room with a few witnesses would be the way to go.  I hope the husband gets front row seats.

@Emerald Thé thing is she had no history of mental illness or criminality, her family and husband are supporting her through this because they know her. They saw what the medications did to her.

She openly warned people she was having the thoughts.

Psychosis doesn’t equal incapacitation. She had a voice tell her this was the time do it it, so she claimed which I think is possible. You can be in psychosis and take steps.

I of course admit to not knowing. But, she had no criminal history or reputation as a sadistic person. Strangling three of your kids with your bare hands is not something normal people can do.

You have to admit Im still a step up from a drama queen who viciously plans and executes a plot to purposefully strangle her three children to death.

My point was to ask you...

Do YOU believe that women who kill their children always do so because of reasons that can be dismissed as legal insanity?

I wasn't asking about what has happened in the past. I'm asking what you believe to get a sense of why you're so certain in this case.

This is clearly not the case. There are men and women who are sane and kill their kids.

However, on a case by case basis…

We see in this case clear suggestion of medical induced schizophrenia and attempt to end her immense suffering caused by the medications
