Ectomorph body weight lock

5 posts in this topic

I can’t for the life of me put on any mass. I’m currently at 132 pounds at 5’9 and have been hovering around that mark for probably a year. The best shape of my life was 150 pounds muscle but lost 20 pounds of it during my kratom addiction, horrible sleep and mental health crisis. No matter how much fat+protein+carb rich food I shovel down, all it does is sustain my current low weight. On top of that I get full way too quickly to gain any size and I have a vomiting fear which prevents me from stuffing down enough per meal because it’ll be unbearable hell the next time some god forsaken tummy bug or food poisoning sends it all back out. Throwing up (specifically the feeling behind it) is the worst fucking system nature cursed us with. It’s even worse for me because for some reason when it happens my throat involuntarily tightens up such that only a tiny bit comes out at a time making for a long and torturous process. And then of course you lose even more weight you can’t afford when an illness like that strikes.

I would give anything to have a slower metabolism so I could actually hang on to some of the calories i consume. That way I could fast more often or just have a fat reserve to fall back on if I want to take a vacation from food for a couple days here and there. No such luck. Any other hard gainers here?

Liquid calories are your friend. Look up some recipes for high calorie shakes.

Routine helps a lot as well. It's a lot easier to fit calories into the day if you get up earlier and have a big breakfast.

Maintain a disciplined, tight eating schedule, and slowly increase carbs from whole foods. Your body will get used to that.

Discipline will also help you build confidence in other life areas.

This assumes you're already eating an optimal amount of protein (>=1.6g per kg of bodyweight) and fats (at least 20% of total calories). The reason is that carbs release more insulin, which is more anabolic, so add calories from carbs.

🤣

Also, try to minimize movements while eating. Like, only lift the pizza with one hand, and avoid chewing longer than what's necessary to absorb the calories.
