The average person is dumbfoundingly stupid

46 posts in this topic

Perhaps people are very stupid, but not long ago they were using sticks and stones, and now they split the atom and send spacecraft to Mars, in addition to organizing themselves into groups of billions with extreme efficiency.

Perhaps the problem is that the people around you aren't very intelligent, but there are others who are.

Relative inteligence

How is this post just me acting out my ego in the usual ways? Is this post just me venting and justifying my selfishness? Are the things you are posting in alignment with principles of higher consciousness and higher stages of ego development? Are you acting in a mature or immature way? Are you being selfish or selfless in your communication? Are you acting like a monkey or like a God-like being?

I see.

What I meant by my comment, was kind of how, in order for you to recognize that the average population is "dumbfoundingly stupid" you'd have to reach some kind of higher intelligence yourself

So it was attempt to expose how your post might imply you see yourself as higher intelligence. Not that it couldn't be true, but it sounded like you excluded yourself from the category of people who would see themselves that way

No i meant the nature of comprehension of the world is projective so if you see stupid people it means you're stupid yourself in denial.

It's logical if you were particularly intelligent your attention would go toward intelligents things people and egregors in general and you would regularly contact intelligence; but insofar as you're actually not experiencing there same frequencies whatever your ego/mental can say you see "stupidity".

Pretty weak bait tbh. I have a 145 IQ

The thing is, intelligence is not just one thing on a sliding scale. It is multiple things. I could be intelligent at Chess but stupid at cooking. It's not even clear if skill equals intelligence, I could be skilful at tic-tac-toe but is that really intelligence? Is just having knowledge equal to intelligence, am I intelligent if I know all the capital cities?

You are right though that most people probably overestimate their own abilities. But even saying that is problematic. I can measure my skill in Chess fairly easily, but how do I measure my skill in cooking: how do I know how much ability I have in something? You can only know by comparison and measurement, but life's too short to be measuring everything all the time. Most people don't know their own level in anything, you can't blame them.

I was using intelligence in a holistic sense

The stupidity you are talking about is of a different nature than what is measured by an IQ test.

Humans have evolved to conserve energy. It's less that the average person is dumb and more like they don't bother expending the energy to expand their worldview. Especially if they are very conformist and haven't had the privilege of education.

But there also different kinds of intelligence. It's unintelligent to measure intelligence by a single metric. A lot of users here are quiet autistic and are unintelligent in certain ways where the average person would be more intelligent, like social skills or sanity.

Yes I already know this, that was sort of implied in my post. I don't consider intelligence as a single metric either.

The people splitting atoms and launching rocket ships are at the very high end of the intelligence distribution. They don't speak for the species as a whole. I actually have very smart people around me, it's most of the world that's dumb.

I know, it's just he was trying to say I'm not as smart as I think I am. And how else am I gonna prove that by just saying "trust me bro". Intelligence covers many domains, not just mathematical pattern recognition that you would find on an IQ test... The things I write have real intelligence, but people feel the need to tell me things that were already implied in the original post. That shows me they don't have the intelligence to understand what I wrote - their ego mechanism simply rejects it.

Nowhere did I call you dumb, if you open yourself a little and relax maybe you'd understand better

Yeah, you did.

I do see myself as higher intelligence. Is that so impossible?

No youre misunderstanding, I meant that you were talking about how so many people see themselves as higher intelligence and how its a trap, so I pointed out how you might also see yourself that way , and now you admitted you do. It might be true, thats one thing, but I just pointed out the potential "hypocrisy"

But its not important imo, more important that you see that youre being a bit defensive, its not benefitting you

@Meeksauce In any case shifting your attention to what(who)'s wrong is not helpful, it's ego.

And so you'll take back your negative energy just like in the case of this topic.

You're kinda making the assumption that I'm coming at this from a place of unintelligence. That's all I'm saying.

I mean, you're seeing something, but theres even higher place to go, and for that first you can start with opening yourself

how would it be possible for the entire population to be above average?

it depends on how it's counted, of course.

But, I don't want to dismiss the question.  It's a very good one,  An important lesson can be learned here.

The problem is people don't question their own minds and they don't question their own perceived intelligence level. It just goes completely unchecked for 99.9% of the population.

What I'm observing is not a lack of questioning, it's active avoidance and denial.  People are terrified of being called out, because, "fake-it-till-you-make-it" is being conflated with "learn-by-doing".  People have become fakers and are rewarding themselves far too much for surrounding themselves with an internet fan-club which always "like" their "content".
