I was more miserable when I was as younger and healthier, paradoxically

Wow.  Really?

Yes. But that’s not entirely true now that I reflect back it deeper.

“Healthy” depends on how we look at it.

Let me attempt to break this down.

What I specifically meant above by “younger and healthier”, is who I was just a few years ago… 2022/23.

(I technically dealt with loads of health issues when I was a kid and teen, but that won’t be the focus here.)

Me now compared to 2022/23;

Nowadays, I require prescription medications to manage my skin and eye conditions. I didn’t need the medications I take back then. Also, I am slower to move, and I have to be more mindful of my movements, as I have developed issues in my pelvic area that I am still working on healing.

So, just by looking at that in isolation, it’s easy to assume that I was “healthy”, since I didn’t have to deal with those aforementioned issues. No medications to manage any physical health issues. I could just take a big dose of prescription stimulant ADHD meds and go about life on autopilot. And holy shit was that dopamine boost addicting! A false sense of health, cus I was feeling happy, right?

Wrong! I was under a deep self-deception spell of being healthy. The reality was, I was dealing with severe trauma that was running my life. Only when things started to truly fall apart did I finally start to admit and address them seriously. Shoutout to psychedelic therapy in 2022 for kicking my ass and cracking me open. Even after those profound psychedelic experiences, it still took many years afterwards to heal. Shit had to get a lot worse before it truly got better. The shit I was dealing with in 2022/23 include:

  • living in a body that I felt completely disconnected from (the body and mind I was in before I transitioned)
  • dysfunctional family dynamics, dysfunctional emotions
  • no committed intimate relationships (even thoughş I craved one)
  • severe OCD and BPD

So, would I trade the annoying and painful health issues I deal with now in 2026 compared to the shit I was going through just a few years ago? Hell no! Even though it feels like my body aged significantly compared to then.

Paradoxically, there are internal parts of me that feel much younger than what I technically am (I am 30), since I am finally able to live the life I’ve been longing to live ever since I was a teen.
