Nothing important is happening

I see,

Interesting because it wasn't actually obvious right at first. You caught that lol. At first, it was still assumed to have been there for as long as I could remember, even though it had become obvious that it wasn't currently real.

It was quite possibly somewhere around 18 months later, when it became totally clear that it was never actually there from start...... it had just seemed to be there.

The self character isn't totally forgotten. In fact the body can still play the role of that character almost perfectly because there had been identification as that self for so long.

The difference is that character is  completely understood to be fiction, so things aren't taken so seriously, there is no loger getting stuck in that drama play.

It's freedom from the seriousness of that identification, but for nobody. Like energy just acting out roles.

Certain memories can get fuzzy though, as if the recognition effects them a bit.

Definitely not like amnesia or anything though 🤔

Do you feel there’s still kind of a “processing” going on, where it’s getting more and more clear , but as of now it’s not 100% clear yet hence the uncertainty in some descriptions?

When you say “energy” acting out roles, do you mean there is some kind of “energetic self” ? Not as in there’s always an energy there, but can there be like energy that rises and gives sense of some self there, when the situation calls for it, or is it just absent fully now?

Not trying to nit pick words, but just curious because sometimes we use words to try to really capture something, maybe even subconsciously . And also because you don’t come off as that stereotypical “flat, dry” no-selfer,😁 so there’s  uniqueness to your perspective

I'm not saying the character is false or wrong or something like that. But if I was convinced that all I am is the character, then I would be incorrect. Surely you can agree with that ?

Yes sure, but the point is what is the character. Usually we mean the idea of ourselves built in the social interaction, and this must be transcended to be free

What I mean is that saying that this idea is false is not a help for this transcending that is It is sought  because the social self is not an illusion; it is a genetically encoded human construct that provides tribal cohesion, creates civilizations, and makes people fight over symbols. It is a real and very powerful force. To say it isn't real traps you in its grip, irrevocably.

Frustrated narcissism coupled with little person syndrome:

I'm everything, i'm not insignificant in the big scheme of reality. Why? Because I said so and that proves it. Behold my powers and witness my infinite intelligence. See those clouds and lightning over there.......im doing that!!! Prove me wrong!!!

🤣

Who said that you made the clouds? Seems that you can't understand the idea then you put down the other as a defense.

Read again those narcisists:

Al hallaj: I am the truth.

Nisgardatta: I am that

Ramana maharshi: the reality is the I

Jesus: I'm the path , the truth and the life

            Before Abraham, I am

Upanishads: Brahman is the self

Shivaism: I am Shiva

Meister Eckhart: the eye with god see me is the eye with I see god

Rumi: you are not a drop in the ocean, you are the ocean in a drop

Or in simpler words; the reality is. You are. Then, you are the reality. Where is the mystery? It's quite obvious. You are a process that is happening in the reality, so you are the reality in the form of a process that knows that it is. "Knowing that you are" is the self, so if there is knowledge of being, there is self. You could say that you feel that there is no self, but you know that you are, so there is self, I'm sorry for telling you that shocking new, but it's real.

Not exactly sure what you mean by a profound person.

But yeah you can have charisma without being awkened.

And my guess is there are quite a number of enlightened people out there who are not on youtube or in a spiritual community.

Profound is kinda broad term but it can include plenty of different traits, spiritual, smart yes also charismatic

What you trying to say with that last sentence?

The most profound people dont hide all their lives, its authentic self expression to sooner or later in life share with the world in some way, could be online or even just to people in your life or something. The way you are should start showing in outward expression too, or else its underdevelopment, I think

Yup, and that process feels like a slow rebalancing of energy distribution.

The self character isn't forgotten. It’s been at the forefront of the mind for a very long time and there are long-term habits/preferences still intact. Some of those things change rather quickly and some don't.

The things that did change quickly seemed to be directly tied to that conditioned self character.......for example the self guilt about desperately needing to advance my rank in the military to keep up with the competition, that almost dropped immediately. Also my fitness goals changed really quickly.

The entire concern about upholding my overall professional image dropped basically.

As far as the acting out roles thing.....its similar to an actor/actress playing a fictional character. The actor knows the character isn't real, but when they are playing the role, it's almost as if the body's energy brings it to life.

Something that wasn't expected was how clearly the understanding is of how this sense of self becomes so prevalent in each body/mind.

It's like everything changes and nothing changes.

I didn't stop being a father, in fact it's much better because there isn't a me trying to play out my hopes and dreams through my boys. It's easy to tell what they are interested in......just have to pay attention to them!

Most important I think is we are true to ourselves, and recognize “I feel I am real” as long as we do. Then you can question from that place if you want.

You can live like his quote while still having sense of self. Just that it’s passive.

Aha, yes I hear you. Would you say that the sense of there being an actual thinker is an illusion or not ?

What sometimes seems to happen during a mystical experience is the energy used to uphold the "self identification construct" temporarily collapses and seems to dissipate back into everything.

When this occurs it creates an intense feeling of freedom, wholeness, all-inclusiveness or "being everything".

But eventually this "energetic self identification" returns, but with the misunderstanding of being everything now instead of just the small limited body/mind.

This phenomenon is often referred to as the spiritual ego, and it's almost impossible to be seen through.

It really just ends of being an incomplete enlightenment experience.

The conditioning that accumulates since childhood is like coat after coat being put over reality, so that life becomes more and more weighty and confined.

Then one day it suddenly dawns on you that you don’t have to keep wearing the heavy coat anymore. Rather, you can just simply take the darn coat off. 😜 How sweet is that!

Then those people I mentioned were just narcissist, or not smart enough to realize what true enlightenment is?

I repeat again: the self is the fact of knowing that you are, it's a process that's happening, and it's real, because there is knowledge of being.
