Lust is a Mirror

11 posts in this topic

Starting to see that lust isn’t really about the other person.

It feels like they have something, beauty, energy, aliveness, but the actual experience is happening within me.

So what I’m really chasing isn’t the form, but a state of consciousness that gets triggered through the form.

This explains obsession

you think the source is “out there,” so you keep chasing it.

But if you look directly, the feeling is self-generated.

At the same time, it’s not like the other person is irrelevant. The form still matters as a trigger.

So it’s like

the experience is internal

the trigger is external

Still trying to see clearly where projection ends and actual connection begins.

Perfect.

Apply this principle to all of experience that you know.

Due to the nature of human mind, it seems to create 'artifacts' which appear to exist 'out there' but really originate within the mind itself. It is almost like a glitch in the mind. Mind cannot recognize mind due to self-reinforcement.

Mind cannot precisely recognize where it is being reflected back into itself due to a recursive feedback like nature, which leaves blindspots in it's wake on due part of it's very own functioning. If the mind begins to recognize where the feedback is occuring, consciousness may be able to sneak in & better consciously direct it.

Perceptual experience is a deep reflection of oneself.

Oneself is a deep reflection of all of existence.

Something like that anyways. Don't take my word for it. Go find it yourself. Launch a personal investigation into the Nature of your own Mind.

Words begin to fail here. Words as an aspect of the mind, cannot seem to get around and capture the entire whole of how mind experientially functions.

Awareness must become involved if you wish to grasp what is said here. Conscious insight must be had, rather than more feedback loop thought patterning.

World shapes mind, mind shapes world, world shapes mind, mind shapes world.

This is a fundamental challenge to understand & consciously direct.

@No1Here2c Great comments

Only so if it sparks true awareness of the circumstance at hand.

I recommend a commitment to mindfulness & self observation.

A steadfast determination to contemplation & contemplative journaling is important too!

God is showing you objects, these objects are showing you emotions you have.

Mindfulness and journaling can help, sure.

But I wonder if there’s a point where observation turns into over-analysis, and you end up watching life instead of fully engaging with it

I agree with that perspective.

This is true, and it continues to be true no matter how close you get. But if you give it the benefit of the doubt, then you have a mutual synchronicity of experience, two mirrors looking into each other infinitely reflecting.

The future can be real. The future can be again.
