On True Religion, Actualized.Org & Ken Wilber

9 posts in this topic

In his book "A Sociable God: Toward a New Understanding of Religion", Wilber talks about distinct forms of spirituality and religion.

What he proposes is a fundamental distinction between:

  • Legitimacy (Horizontal): This refers to how well a religion integrates an individual into the existing social order. It provides meaning, stability, and "social glue." Most mainstream religion functions here, helping people feel comfortable in their current state of development.
  • Authenticity (Vertical): This refers to the degree of actual transformation or "consciousness shift" a religion facilitates. An authentic religion pushes the individual to transcend their current level of ego or social conditioning toward higher states of being.

What do you think about this shift in perspective? Are you fundamentally triggered by religion? How can we practice vertical religion without falling for dogma, stigma and beliefs?

oxymoron.can’t work. religion is a set of spiritual beliefs.

“God is the Alpha Omega .. the beginning-less  beginning and the endless end .
He is the first without start . He is the last without end . He is the manifest actuality ..nothing covers him . He is the most hidden essence  ..nothing can grasp him .. nothing below him or more subtle than him .The ego is the belief I’m separate from god . Because being god is too good to be true .No matter how dark it gets or difficult it gets ..no matter how long it is going to take .. my destiny is the infinite happiness and infinite joy and love as the best thing ever ..God .  “

-that’s a me .

How could we reinvent religion?

Innovation is not just about business, science and technology,

That's false religion. A example of true religion would be Tantra, which is just a set of techniques to realize your true nature.

No "cosmology" as Ralston suckups would say it lmao.

Road to perfection.

We basically did . Religion started off as primitive methods of raising consciousness and promoting good values through rituals and sermons and worship. we now have way more advanced techniques than that .

One way that works is by exploring different religons. Most religons have esoteric forms and there are like communities that practice the vertical growth you mentioned. I joined multiple communities in Islam and Christianity that helps in not getting stuck in the dogma and beliefs.

There is a guy called Gurdjieff he talks a lot about what he calls Understanding which is opposed to belief. I found his work very helpful in that respect.
