Looking for Participants – Meditation Research Project

Hey guys, I'm looking for participants for a research project I am working on.

I am currently the primary investigator of a research project on mindfulness at the University of Missouri. I am trying to understand the role that meditation (or other contemplative practices like Kriya) plays in the meaning of one's life. We are using a short (10-15 minutes) questionnaire to collect data related to contemplative practice, meaning in life, negative/positive emotions, and demographic information.

All of the data collected is absolutely anonymous and confidential. 

It is difficult to find enough serious mindfulness practitioners for a study like this, so I would like to extend my gratitude to those of you who have the time to participate and encourage you to pass it along to anyone you know who engages in spiritual practice!

As compensation, there will be a drawing for 10 - $50 Amazon gift cards for everyone who completes the questionnaire. If you have any questions at all, don't hesitate to message me.

Done, I feel like the quality of the question could be increased, there's sometimes overlap. I also would have preferred the practice option to be multiple choice, otherwise it's quite limiting, doing just one practice is quite rudimentary.

There is this body, I should know the requirements of my body. This is first duty.  We have obligations towards others, loved ones, family, society, etc. Without material wealth we cannot do these things, for that a professional duty.

There is Mind; mind is tricky. Its higher nature should be nurtured, then Mind becomes Wise, Virtuous and AWAKE. When all Duties are continuously fulfilled, then life becomes steady. Thanks. I've always wondered about the assumptions underlying scientific thinking regarding some of these matters, so good luck with my questionnaire. No meaning and high joy at the same time.

I'm happy that you're doing this study, with the focus being on meaning of one's life, since that has to be the ultimate benefit. 

The other areas, such as focus and attention span etc. even quality of relationships can really dwindle based on life's current challenges - that's to say that meditation & contemplative practices don't always provide a sort of linear or stacking benefit. 

For example, the calm and focus I experienced was much greater earlier on. But as I tackled deeper and more existential problems, those areas suffered but that's just the awakening process & I very much needed those deeper truths and they gave me more purpose.

Just to clarify, you're not guaranteed to get a voucher, you've only been entered into a draw for ten of them.

I agree with you! I think meaning is something that is really core to our lives, and as you say, most of the other benefits we get through contemplative practice will change depending on our current life circumstances.
