Yes it gave me a lot of appreciation for games and software that works well. It's why I went with just a 2d platformer for my first one, I don't wanna fuck with 3D at all seems like a nightmare.

I think a lot if it comes out good. I don't really think people care how things are made just the quality of them. There's a vocal minority of people that are hating on AI everywhere right now but I think once phenomenal AI products start coming out they'll fade away just like the luddites did.

Cool that we live in the same city! There's a lot of meetup events related to game dev in the city. I went to the unity one a couple of weeks ago and it was a bit disappointing just a silent coworking session. I'm going to go to one of these drinking with game devs one next at the esports bar probably in early July, if you're down to join lmk we can coordinate.

I don't really have enough progress for a devlog video but progress is being made. I finished Day 9 of the build. I got Gemini to create me a 30 day plan with about 20 mins of work each day so I don't get burnt out. Some days I do many days worth of build but I'm working on other things in my life so this is like a 3rd priority relaxation work.

It's very satisfying to see little changes come together. Very interesting how I'm building a little world. Even just writing the lore it helped me conceptualize our reality more. I can see why you had particular skill in metaphysics from your game dev experience Leo. 

It is a bit discouraging to think about how far I am from the dream game I want but progress is progress and eventually I will divert funds from my other business to invest in this so as I long as I keep it going it should work.

One of my big inspirations is Pokemon. Satoshi Tajiri is really cool and his backstory is surprisingly similar to mine. He started out making a game review magazine and after 7 years decided fuck it let's make a game studio. He liked bug catching and when he first pitched the concept to Nintendo they didn't get it. He pitched it again and got it funded. Then 6 years later he got Pokemon and single handedly ressucitated the Gameboy which was considered a dead console. Beautiful vision, great man.

Look at these little fuckers. My creatures in my game will be way cooler but I quite like Pokemons. It originally inspired me to become the very best, like no one ever was.

How is this post just me acting out my ego in the usual ways? Is this post just me venting and justifying my selfishness? Are the things you are posting in alignment with principles of higher consciousness and higher stages of ego development? Are you acting in a mature or immature way? That is the biggest thing I hate about game dev. It is just too much work for something so trivial in the end. I don't have enough health to work that hard.

Oh for sure I have the same problem 😭, but those were the good old days, being 20 with the vitality and blood pumping through our veins, grinding a game out for 12 hours.

That's why the focus has to be on building a business and not just a game.

Building only a game is a trap.

But with actualized.org, if you were to make actualized games, it'll be easy to push it through the platform?

No way. I cannot make a game successful by selling it to you guys. A game needs crazy popular appeal, not you weirdos :P

I can't really afford to divert time/energy away from my other work and businesses. As long as I keep continuously working towards it then it'll concretize over time. I've built out the vision in terms of compartments that I wanna try. So for example I've been working to illustrate a manga from the lore I've written. There are some problems with AI character consistency but I'm getting it to where I want it over time. Perhaps in 3 months if I'm motivated I can come out with the first volume of 200 pages. I'll release each chapter on open manga websites to build an audience and see if I can sell the physical versions as real manga books.

I just finished finalizing the plot of the story. The whole idea is that the game will be part of a multimedia IP sort of like Star Wars or Pokemon.

The anime is the main thing I'm using to visualize the plot, I don't really wanna spoil it but here is a wallpaper teaser.

It way I'm thinking about it now the anime will feature 8 seasons. The 2d roguelite will be based on season 7. If I ever get to making that one then season 8 will be a special game and post conquest will be the final version of a VR MMORPG.

Classic to my people's culture and you guys know me by now, it's gonna be a harem anime so Nerathar(the main character) will have 4 main wives

I find how harems is portrayed in anime is usually quite cringe like the dude gets all the girls but is really shy and uncomfortable with them and he never kisses them or has sex with them. Nerathar will have kids quite early let's say. I want to also put some realistic pickup component in it so it's fun and informative to watch. 

I had to tone down the number of women in his life so that it's not 100% male gazey and women viewers actually enjoy watching it. Originally he had like 18 wives and concubines. I want to perhaps still do it like this but I need to find an appealing way to write it and not making it too unhinged. Also I need to spend more time writing male characters there are really only 2 in the story so far and like 30 female characters.

The premise of the show is actually based on post scarcity and a mirror to AI. The whole story is that he has incredibly powerful blood magic and teaches it to his followers to overthrow the current 15th century european powers that also have magic in the show but are using it to enslave and crush their citizens. 

I want to explore post scarcity would look in a fantasy world. He will use blood donations to create an infinite magic system and feed and house everyone for free. I want to create a realistic economic system and see how that affects labor and how you'd transition a fantasy world based on exploitation and slavery towards ultimate freedom.

I want to see how that affects engineering as well so there will be massive construction projects in the empire as well as war machines like this one which is my favorite concept, the imperial dreadnoughts which are massive floating ships like the Star Wars Star Destroyers that are literally magically powered.

The whole IP is based on logic and although it's fantasy I created a system to calculate the magical powers of the characters. I feel like anime and fantasy TV shows rely too much on plot armor and sudden power ups based on the power of friendship and it hurts my brain to watch a lot of times.

So the mana system of the universe is called Aether and is calculated in Thaum units. An average human has 0T(I now just realized writing this that's the same accronym as testosterone idk if I'll keep or change it lol), a magical commoner has from 100 to 2k and a trained soldier is 2k to 6k and so on and so forth.
