There's more than one way to cultivate.  Intellectual cultivation is narrow.  Emotional cultivation is broad. However, there's many opportunities within intellectual pursuits if one is not overly reliant on being rewarded.

1)  not "or"... "and".  " ... understanding can be developed and some are born ... "

2)  "Understanding" of consciousness can be developed while "knowing" and "knowledge" of consciousness cannot.  Understanding is relational and doesn't require apprehension.  All that's needed are good models and metaphors.  Developing good ( useful ) understanding comes from developing good ( accurate ) models and metaphors.

I would say very many assumptions underlie my question. This is because without assumptions can you even ask a question at all?

Firstly I assume you all are even real to be asking questions to.

I assume that I am a physical being who is alive and able to ask questions.

I assume that anything can ever even be developed. I assume understanding is possible. 

The list goes on but ive been up all night and now all day too. I dont need to explain myself to anyone

Upon further reflection it was correct the way i have written it.

It is most definitely an "or" not an "and"

Your state doesn't change what's true; otherwise, it wasn't true in the first place. You can be drunk, angry, afraid, feeling one with the universe, curious, or jealous - and, at the same time, the truth wouldn't care about that, so to speak.

Think of it as a state of mind. Consciousness may not be a state, after all.

And what is presented through Consciousness is entirely dependent upon state.

How do you determine what is True in a Reality of Consciousness?

Perhaps by exploration of various States?

Is that which is True what remains after all states have been exhausted?
