AI is ramping up RAM prices

One month ago 2 sticks of 16 gb costed like 90 euro. Last week they costed 250 euro. And now the same ones cost 450 euro.

Luckily I could snug one for 250 euro last week but my RAM costed more than my CPU which is crazy. luckily I got a good deal on the other parts so it evened out.

It is expected that prices will rise even more so if you can get good deals right now. You should get it. RAM is almost in smart device like laptop, phone and stuff. Next year these stuff might become too expensive for most people.

I bought 8 sticks of additional RAM and they already doubled in price. Next year I will be selling these with 5 x the profit.

Can you imagine such world? Living in an AI world but not being able to afford a device to access it.

Seems like our leaders are retarded. They went all in on ai that has nothing but downsides. Its not doing anything spectacular they claimed it would do and all it does is use insane amounts of electricity and water to make people go insane.

Chat gpt and other bots are nothing but a waste of time to use. They aren't fun and don't contribute anything of use.

It seems like a made up thing to consume as many resources as possible for money.

It was supposed to evolve exponentially but has already stopped evolving.

AI is yet to make any serious profit. All this investment is pure speculation and hedging against a looming recession.

Can't wait for the bubble to pop like a bloated whale. If nothing else than to see all that stupid hype to finally die.

Mind you that all those AI party poopers have vested interest in AI failing because AI undermines their “creative work” while humans are the biggest thieves out there. Even those guys who you have in high regard “borrow”.  At best their own contribution it 5-10% max. Only very few people like Wilber come with their own shit. Obviously AI is in its infancy face but soon there will come a point of singularity and we will see what real creativity is. Yes that will cause a lot of disruption but at this point it is not something that can be avoided. The gene is out of the bottle.

Yeah the predictions and timelines are crazy. AGI by 2027 or within the next 5 years. I don't think this is like the .com bubble or the housing crysis. Idk about these crazy predictions but if they are even slightly true, then we are in for a ride. No way to prepare for stuff like this

@Jowblob I have the same sticks.. the price is going to go up for 1k. That is why I bought some extra that I will be selling. If my predictions come true my pc will be for free with the profits I make with RAM that I will sell.

We will see a dark age in consumerism technology. Everything contains RAM nowadays. So everything will go up in price that has it. But components like cpu will go down in price. Currently your cpu is like 200-240 euro on AliExpress while you probably paid much more for it. I’m lucky that I listened to my intuition and bought my pc at the precise right point which was 1-2 months ago.

I didn't lose any money on the pc's even when i bought all the components new as in the screenshot i provided, because i used to flip/build pc's  for profit. My last used pc i sold was only like 100euro less then the new pc i build with better quiter parts and new components. And my cpu 9800x3d isn't 200-240 euro on aliexpress, it's literally the best gaming cpu available and only 1 year old. The lowest price on Ali is like 450 euro , and not many sell them second hand currently

Oh, nice. So, now crypto gamblers are gambling with RAM prices. You will surely become a RAM millionaire, LMAO.

BTW, I bought my 32GB RAM in 2017, and I will never build a new PC. Windows 11, as well as 99% of new games suck anyway, so I am sticking with my 2017 build for eternity.

So much money to be saved and put to a better use.

Lmao, gaming is not the only thing one can do with a pc

With coupons I can get the 9800x3d for 340, but I got the 9700x instead. 9800x3d is not worth the price in terms of price/value and an overkill for most games since most games are gpu dominant anyway. But I didn't know the 9800x3d were so cheap. I can still return my current cpu and go for it now that I think about it.

Currently I also have 4 spare RAM too and I was thinking about adding 2 sticks to my current 2 stick configuration to make it 4 stick system but even that is an overkill since most games are optimised for potato systems. Only couple of fps difference. Not worth it. And not noticiable.

So I think I will just sell my spare RAM in couple of months. If the prices continue like this I will re-earned my PC system for free. And the remainder I will put in crypto.

I have a feeling that most of the price increases are driven by pure greed and speculation. I can't see regular people paying $500-1000 for a pair of RAM sticks. You might make a couple hundred bucks per RAM, or you might end up holding dead meat once this whole thing crashes. This is a pure speculation, nothing else.

In the worst case scenario it will drop to regular prices. And I bought my RAM at regular prices so for me there is only an upshot. At 1k I will consider selling it but they say this RAM crisis will uphold for at least 2 years. Can you imagine RAM prices in 2 years? Perhaps I should just go hail mary and wait 2 years.

RAM crises is only a short term thing which might last 2-4 years. But at least 2 years because manifacturers are focusing on AI and big tech. They can earn more money with those bigger customers than with you and me. Once they are saturated and once AI infrastructure is in place they will return to supplying regular customers.

It is just shitty for people who waited to buy a system. Current prices are still cheap with what is coming. Otherwise you will have to wait for 2-4 years for normal pricing. So if you really need a system buy today. Because the prices will only go up from here. God bless.
