Counter Intuitive Nature of Life - personal example

I was watching Leo's video "The Counter Intuitive Nature of Life" and was thinking man I can probably find a lot of examples of these in my daily life. Sure enough within one day I find one.

When you watch YouTube videos, it's counter-intuitive to watch at 1x instead of 1.5x or 2x - reason being, you'll soak up much more information when you have more time to process the words. It's like listening to a piece of music on 2x - you might absorb some raw information, but you're missing all of the profundity.

 

Let me know if you've found any additional examples on top of Leo's video.

I watch all videos at 1.5x speed. It is better for me.

It really depends on how well you already understand reality. If you understand things well then you won't miss anything at 1.5x speed.

I understand politics so well that I can watch politics videos at 2x speed and not miss anything important because the content is so shallow.

It’s also a skill you can develop, like speed reading. You just have to increase the speed bit by bit over time until you get used to it.

I used your videos to train that skill. It took me around 6 months of almost daily watching to develop it. Nowadays, I watch all your videos at 2x speed or more.

2x speed is just annoyingly fast. It is unpleasant on the ears.

1.5x is the sweet spot.

Its kinda like thinking why dont we just take all the silence out of music so we can take the raw data of the music. It ends up being just noise. The silence between beats makes the beat. I used to refuse to listen to indian gurus im like these guys are talking way too fking slow speed it up buddy.

I feel like for a lot of spiritual content the ideas are designed to be absorbed at the speed they are presented. I watch your videos at 1x if it's for the first time and 2x on repeats.

I think my mom would be a good example for this. She always worries about me and my sister's future. Every time we have talks, she always mentions how we must be successful to be happy. When we tell her that she doesn't need to worry and can relax and be happy, she says that she is doing this so that we can grow up to be successful and make her happy. The thing is, this isn't helping us in our carrier and this is definitely not helping her become more happy. 😭

Nah, it's not designed, humans just can't talk that fast naturally (except Destiny, Lol).

I talk slow because it takes time to think what to say. But when listening that can be sped through.

I'm not just talking, I'm thinking.

I listen to my own videos at 1.25x

That can be a pretty positive trait in theory, having a motivational couch as mom, she also isn't really wrong. I guess it is the delivery of, and motives behind the message that make the difference
