I would say Buddha was the first self help guru. Spirituality is self help and also self help inevitably leads to spirituality.

What about Napoleon Hill, William Walker Atkinson or Clement Stone?

Napoleon Hill and Clement Stone just copied others before them, gave zero credit, and said they originated those ideas.

Research the "New Thought" movement; it started in the 1800s, and it was the birth of the self-help movement. Hard to say the first one but i would guess it was Emerson, he wrote Self-Reliance in 1841.

William Walker Atkinson was one of the first ones; he even wrote many books based on Yoga techniques (like from Raja Yoga), and he even talked about Enlightenment.
