Can hard of hearing or deaf people be of value to society?

5 posts in this topic

I am hearing disabled and I applied for a job at the warehouse. I also applied for a job at the airport. However, my application got rejected for both of these jobs due to my hearing disability. So, my question is that, is it possible for people with hearing loss to be of value to society in order to make money?

I'm sorry to hear that you got rejected.

Are there any support groups you can attend that share your disability? They would be invaluable resources when it comes to job readiness and such.

Yes, of course.

You'd just need to find work where hearing isn't a major part of the skill set.

There are plenty of jobs and careers that have hearing as a major component. But there are also plenty of jobs and careers that don't have hearing as a major component.

And just like everyone else, finding a career that's a good fit for one's strengths and weaknesses is part of the career search.
