When death comes, which belief will you cling to?

To answer OP:

I don't know - unknown experience. So no belief - just not knowing. Total uncertainty.

I wasn't raised with any belief system, thank God. So nothing to default back to (which seems to be a really common occurrence, and mechanism of the subconscious mind).

I was only raised with 'You create' by my rather weird artist grandfather.

Deal with the issue now, on your terms, in your control. Or the issue will deal with you, in ways you won't appreciate, and cannot control.

Will you say, I am God,

or I am infinite,

or I am everything?

And when death sweeps you away,

will you still be able to hold on?

I have been through a possible life ending situation an year ago.

Nothing could comfort me in terms of beliefs, what helped was basically some understanding that i'm not here to start with, and it's an ongoing story that keep telling/creating myself.

Reality of death is difficult and you have to surrender and go through it.

Lucky you, the default place of no beliefs is the right place to be in. This allows for surrender to happen on its own, when one is faced with reality of possible ending of life.

Amazing.

I would like to add something, I is the biggest belief. And everytime you have deep sleep, that's literally death. Only difference is surrendering the body.

Yes - deep sleep. No object.

Death - no object.

But aware.

Precisely - and that surrender is so freeing.  I fiercely engage with life because I know I can always make it happen and it will be okay - until it isn't and I die :) No need to worry, it will come as it comes.

I do feel lucky to have not had any indoctrination at an early age. You see all over the world - even these forums - individuals who have their reality challenged, by psychedelics, near death experiences - and they default back to beliefs instilled in their developmental stages. It speaks to the hidden beliefs we all have underneath our conscious mind. Beliefs never really looked at or questioned.

So I’m not conscious ?

No, there's no one behind those eyes. Where in the body are you located, remember that post. People answered all over the place. How come it was such a challenge to answer. Those that answered here, there and everywhere will still think they're consciously looking out those eyes located on the body but say they are located beyond the body. It's energy at play.  What you think you're looking out of is nothing but the seeing energy just seeing and there's a claim that I am seeing. There's not even an I am.

Only appears to be. There's a difference with something actually happening and appears to be.

Nothing is happening as in NOTHING is appearing to happen. What's happening is nothing. Hehe. I know nuts..

Doesn’t make sense

Nondual awareness doesn’t make sense. Sense comes on contact with an object in other words a thought.

Aware of being aware. That’s a duality. That is the sense of self.

It is pointless trying to make sense of nonsense nonduality which is a flawed belief, because it's only half of the story.

I have no idea why  more emphasis is placed on the death of self, but yes, this death can be recognised as a thing known, but life still goes on living after enlightenment for no one.

If it doesn’t all make sense then what makes sense what is the sense that you make sense of all of what is?

Sense is the sense of knowing you exist. That’s why you don’t jump off a cliff because you sense the gravity.

There’s loads of examples of making sense of everything including the environment or the workings of the brain or mind.

It’s just a human job, to make sense of itself. Obviously it cannot make sense of itself if it doesn’t exist.

I don’t see any point in it either. I’m looking forward to never being aware again, if that’s even possible, I just don’t know.

I don’t really know what death is, nor do I know what awareness is. I’m just here in the middle of two unknowns. Making up stories with thoughts and words.

Non-duality is only half the story - think of it as a step on the journey.

Endless journey.
