Bringing darkness to the light

Oh wow had to stop this one the sex empties you and food fills you but also arouses the senses and the sexual desire and it’s a circle, a cycle, a closed loop you cant escape.

in my own contemplations I saw that if I were to give up the pleasures of the world I have to give all of them up, because giving up a part does not work, since one part arouses the other parts, they are intertwined, so you either drop all of them or else live in the same loop.

So I'm entering that part of the cycle where I study celibacy and similar restrictions to learn if they are indeed the path back to good. Previously I studied various Brahmacharya proponents and now I study Roy Masters, reading his book "Eat no Evil"

If I go by my own experience, it is indeed true that when I restrict myself fully - part restrictions do not work - I after a month or two the guilt in the mind begins to subside and I begin to enter the celestial states.

My experience also shows that it is extremely difficult to sustain this state and in the end, I get seduced by the world and fall from this commited state.

However, is it possible that if I read enough about this, contemplate deeply and clearly see that food and sex are the core roots of the ego, that I will be able to let them go for good and begin to awaken?

Perhaps.

Oh, also, before I was able to circumvent this tiredness issue by caffeine and positive thinking - seems that thoughts have quite alot of energy to give, but if I just go back to silence, the baseline is pretty much daily tiredness, as Roy Masters says is attributed to this cycle of expelling and getting life force through sex and food, but if you eat bad food you grow tired and fat, brain functions worse and worse, you become a zombie.

Wowwyyy Jamie answered my question I've been struggling with for the last 5 years probably - the quesiton of pleasures.

It does seem like pleasures reinforces the bodily identity, the individual existence, the character-self.

So I tried to fight and restrict, but didnt really work, also did work kinda, as if I restrict myself i do get light/love experiences, otherwise I don't get anything. But in the end I also get a backlash of those pleasures and sometimes it's pretty destructive.

Jamie said that if we go for restriction of pleasures, we will get off-balance, there's still a part of us that wants the individual experience, but if we restrict that part, we will get off-balance, experience resistance and finally a backlash. It's also not a gentle way to go about things, it's an egoic thing to forcefully restrict pleasures, they have to fall away naturally. As you go gently through your life you will begin to see how pleasures are empty, and one by one, they will lose their attraction, and then they might come back - it's not linear.

Anyway, the way he explained it was so beautiful - it was never as helpful to read even an answer that was pretty much the same, but not put in the same way and not explained so well and gently and in terms of ACIM. He said acim isnt a path like others in this way, it's veery gentle, you might think it's not gentle put that's because of misinterpretation, it's actually very gentle. and when you look at things gently you actually go faster not slower. he also said that when I TRY TO restrict I become sort of in control of my awakening and that doesn't work.
