Hitler and the Buddha

24 posts in this topic

So they are both opposite on a spectrum you could say.

I can actually empathise with both of them.

Hitler the guy who wanted to go to art school and failed (which i also almost went to art school)

seemingly there was a huge idea/feeling/belief of "this should be different" Germany/Austria at that time.

Which maybe is just an energetic contraction that can then be hijacked by beliefs. For example you could feel very uncomfortable and not connected. And then you see Jews in higher positions or whatever and then think this feeling is because of them and you have to do something about it.

Anywho it seems Hitler very much in a way wanted to change reality and was quite powerful in doing so. Although ultimately he destroyed Germany and decorated his bunker wall with his brain splatters.

And the Buddha as far as i know just totally accepted and surrendered to reality. Which in a way is the opposite. But he was very powerful is changing the world also.

anywho it’s just a story and not that serious

From what I heard buddha didn't accept reality he left his home and family because he had an existential fear of death and wanted to know what happens. He saw someone dying and said there's no way this can be real I can't even comprehend what this means.

All the stories start with someone having an existential fear of dying and it setting a trigger off in their brain that they cannot remain in the same spot. Like fight or flight so they keep moving and eventually that fear kills them mentally then they can surrender.

Only after he found what he was looking for could he accept it.

I'd say they relate in a way that buddha accepted and found God hitler wanted to control and found God when his brains hit the wall. Buddha found peace before it happened hitler found insanity and blew his brains out.

@PurpleTree Yes there is even the partof the story where before he awaken he was in the river holding onto the branche and was like I am just going to let this river take me and kill me but he didn't. Then after that he went and sat under the tree and then was releived. Its the metaphor for wanting to kill yourself to end the suffering but he chose to ride the last ride out and was rewarded.

So you’re saying that branch was the real hero. It’s interesting.

Saying it’s “just a story and not so serious” is a denial of your humanity. If you were sent to gas chamber you would feel it’s very serious

I mean I recognize my thoughts as just concepts to, but then what the nature of a thought is , is not a concept 🤔

Well imo it’s more that when there‘s no „center” let’s say. Then most beliefs just don’t make much sense.

Yea maybe it allows us to access reality directly so no concept can feel like it grasps it

And then everything you talk about just becomes a story. Something between real and unreal or just unknowable.

It is important to recognize we all have pain and suffering.

We share this human experience. And through it we generate what occurs between us as subject-subject. That unity brings forth compassion and empathy. Love.

But at the end of the day, while we all have our tale of woe, it is what we DO in life that matters.

The actions we take.

These actions define us.

I think the other factor to consider is intention VS outcome when looking at the Buddha and Hitler. Where we place weight on that spectrum will heavily influence how we view the two characters.

Deal with the issue now, on your terms, in your control. Or the issue will deal with you, in ways you won't appreciate, and cannot control.
