How To Use Psychedelics To Access And Purge Trauma/Emotional Blockages

4 posts in this topic

I've been studiously working on myself for a long while now, using various techniques: introspection, therapy (both talking and EMDR), bodywork modalities like Jin Shin Jyutsu, occasional psychedelic use, etc.

Significant progress has been made in my daily life, and I have uncovered and investigated a lot of the shit that got me to the dire place I found myself in some time ago. However, I'm still largely unsatisfied as, in spite of having pieced together the mind-bending puzzle of extensive childhood and adulthood trauma, I still have deep emotions and baggage that seems to shift very slowly.

I often find myself wanting, or needing to cry, but I can only muster a welling-up, and perhaps a couple of solitary tears. I am also often angry.

Anyway, my hope is to be able to use psychedelics to access some of these deep-rooted emotions compassionately, then feel them, release them, and move on. I'd like to ask you for any advice, suggestions, or cautions you have for this undertaking, only if you have some experience in this area. Speculations aren't wanted - I can speculate myself about how it could turn ugly and so on.

Conversely, do you think I have it backwards? Is the 'accessing of trauma and purging it' all an ego game, and should I be seeking mystical experiences instead, which will in turn melt away any trauma or emotional baggage?

TIA.

Take mushrooms, they are very good and guiding for healing. Enter into the experiment with the deep desire to heal and love yourself, to bring the light that in one flash will vanish all the darkness. I recommend to do some breathing, yoga, before the experience to start connecting with yourself. Pro tip: if you want lasting change figure out where in your body is stored that particular trauma and release it. Vice versa, you can start by a located physical tension and by releasing it in the trip all the stored trauma will be re-lived one last time before decompressing and vanishing.

No, it's not useless ego game, shadow work and healing is an utmost necessary part in the spiritual path. Not dealing with it makes a bottleneck both in your personal life and in your spiritual path.

You're having the right intuition and asking the right questions.

God-Realize, this is First Business. Know that unless I live properly, this is not possible.

There is this body, I should know the requirements of my body. This is first duty.  We have obligations towards others, loved ones, family, society, etc. Without material wealth we cannot do these things, for that a professional duty.

There is Mind; mind is tricky. Its higher nature should be nurtured, then Mind becomes Wise, Virtuous and AWAKE. When all Duties are continuously fulfilled, then life becomes steady. In this steady life GOD is available; via 5-MeO-DMT, because The Sun shines through All: Living in Self-Love, Realizing I am Infinity & I am God

I would also confirm that your angle is not backwards: psychedelics can heal and guide you. Accessing and feeling into the emotion is exactly how im going about it too. But i dont actively try to release it, im just staying with it and the realease has to come by itself.

You can have mystical experiences too despite unresolved issues, but in my experience you dont actively seek them, you just do inquiry and meditation. What happened to me once is that i took LSD and the mystical experience came the next morning after i woke up. (Well beyond the 12 hours of ingestion.)

I hope it was useful that i pointed this out for you, or maybe you just didn't phrase it that way, in that case i think you are already doing a great job.

At times when it gets hard it may be good to remember that you are not the only one dealing with issues like yours and we can have each others backs.
I wish you the best

Edit: I would also do actively release thoughts and emotions that would come up in meditation. Letting go of them as Eckhart Tolle would phrase it. Maybe thats what you meant as well.

I mean it’s hard because there is no control. Psychedelics just basically do what they want with you. Could be trauma healing or not.
