Are you able to just sit?

What do you guys think of moving practices like tai chi & such? How different is from sitting? Is it not boring enough?

If I didn't do active mindfulness for a week before my first sober awakening, I wouldn't have awakened after 5 minutes of sitting meditation.

But if you're not able to sit, that's indicative of something.

What do you mean by active mindfulness? Specific patterns or just intuitive walking & doing other movements?

Think walking meditation but with all of your bodily movements and actions (picking up things, putting them down, eating, drinking, breathing, looking at things), all the time, 24/7.

That's amazing.

For beginning, it is just very tough to only sit without any distraction, judgement, expectations, thoughts are etc... therefore, just sitting is so difficult in the beginning.

However, when one starts to sit on daily basis 5 after 10 after 30 after 1 hour sittings, it's become quite is easy to just sit. Specially, after 1 hour quite sitting opens to gate to long sittings such as 3 to 6 hours or 12 hours.

Moreover, in the beginning attachment with thoughts are inevitable. However, one can be witness of the thoughts.

And one day, thoughts disappear and that's when attachment with time vanishes.

Imo, sitting in darkness and silence is the key.

Much love.

Best Regards,

Are you able to sit 3 to 6 hours. Or is it what you heard?
