Revolutionary Think

Anyone else relate to sub par or just having failures as parents?

An interesting practice is to temporarily see one's parents as persons rather than as "mother" or "father." It takes some work and provides a different perspective.

This is a great thread with a lot of gold.

Bottom line is that your parents owe you nothing. Not food, not water: nothing.

Everything that you expect your parents to give you is cultural bias.

Free yourself from that and integrate personal responsibility with the responsibility of God and realize that you are the one in charge of everything, and that includes everything, physical, mental, emotional.

You feel lucky that they fed you, if anything. And if they didn't feed you, you feel gratitude that they didn't cook you in a microwave as a newborn. And if they did cook you in a microwave as a newborn, and your brain is as a soggy potato of a result, then indeed they are monsters, but still a projection of your mind, and so indifferent to your own monstrosity.

Your parents don't really owe you anything. In fact, it will probably be that you owe your parents something for having birthed you and taking care of you (at least during young time) if you go by societal values and norm.
