Born with Truth: Can We Escape Society’s Programming?

4 posts in this topic

Hey everyone,

I stumbled across this YouTube video that hit me hard, and I wanted to share it with you all to see what you think. The speaker (Roy Masters) is intense, raw, and unfiltered, tearing into organized religion, the trap of ego, and how society pulls us away from our inner truth. It’s not your typical spiritual talk—it’s gritty and challenges a lot of what we’re taught to believe.

Here’s a quick summary: The speaker argues that true spirituality isn’t about following preachers or buying into religious systems. They say, “Christianity is something very, very deep… you don’t learn from a preacher,” and emphasize that we’re born with an innate sense of right and wrong, a “wordless” knowing that gets buried under societal programming. They critique the idea of chasing salvation through money or rituals, calling it “religiosity, an illusion.” There’s also this bit about how our ego—our “selfish, greedy, self-seeking” self—keeps us from true enlightenment. Oh, and they throw in some spicy takes on societal decline, like how “half the country has been demoralized” and how we’re losing our sovereignty to external influences.

What really got me was this line: “You’re born with a sense… don’t let anybody confuse you that right and wrong is something other people teach you.” It’s like they’re saying we already have the answers inside us, but we let the world hypnotize us into forgetting. They also talk about meditation not being some hypnotic mantra but a way to reconnect with that inner knowing, which feels super aligned with what we discuss here.

I’m curious—what do you all think about this? Do you agree that true spirituality is beyond religion and ego, or is there value in structured practices? Have you ever felt that “wordless knowing” the speaker talks about? And what about their take on society—do you see this “demoralization” they mention playing out? I’d love to hear your perspectives, especially if you’ve had moments where you felt you broke free from that programmed, mechanical way of living.

Looking forward to your thoughts!

-obviously spirituality is beyond religion and ego . There is value in structured practices if that's the best you know . My mom Is a deeply religious person .she prays daily .and as long as that's "working " and makes her life meaningful and gives her hope then who the fuck am I to burst her bubble and tell her there's no sky daddy up in the clouds to pray to and you're God and God is brute indifference?

-wordless knowing exactly. I know things which literally there are no words to describe. And I'm sure you too do.

-demoralising yup . Just check where the porn industry for example is at today and what kind of porn is the trend now . Sorry about cutting the shit but this will give you an idea that we are sinking in shit-pool.

"When you get very serious about truth you accept your life situation exactly as it is. So much so that you aren't childishly sitting around wishing it were otherwise. If you were confined to a wheelchair you would just accept it as how reality is. Just as you now just accept that you are not a bird who can fly."

@eTorro Leo basically just did a whole video on this topic:

Personally, I'd recommend leaving religion behind for anyone who is a serious seeker. I spent about two years deconstructing the religion I grew up with and have never looked back. I don't regret it for a second.

It is a more challenging way to live though in some respects. Spirituality requires great sacrifice. And if you're new to spiritual work, the reality is that you don't really understand what those costs are. You don't understand yet what you're asking for or where this leads.

What you probably understand if you're a serious seeker is that you care about Truth. You want to know what is true. You want to live a life that is truthful.

Well, what are you willing to give up for Truth?

This is a very serious question one can only answer for themselves.

"Finding your reason can be so deceiving, a subliminal place.

I will not break, 'cause I've been riding the curves of these infinity words and so I'll be on my way. I will not stay.

And it goes On and On, On and On"
