Leo, was it all worth it?

7 posts in this topic

In your most recent blog post, you describe God as beautiful and it made me wonder: were all the terror, shit stains and blood on your floor worth it?

If I were to follow a more traditional path and attain classical enlightenment, would my day-to-day feel more fulfilling or is the deconstructive path you are paving "better"? If so, in what ways? Better in terms of your daily feeling-tone/baseline awareness or is it more that the everyday might be less happy, but the peak experiences are so profound that they outweigh the rest?

Could you share the things in your life that made it all worth it for you?

I’m asking because when I look at a path I like to see what the life of the teachers look like. They are the fruit/result of the path. That’s one orientation points that tells me if I want to sign up for it or how deep I want to follow the path.

@Spiral Wizard he already answered this question somewhere. I remember he said it was totally worth for him. But he thinks it's not for everyone. People are different. And your genetic ,age, maturity etc plays a role.

I disagree with your framing that I am paving some special "destructive path".

You just can't predict how your path will unfold. The path is simply one of pursuing truth and consciousness, wherever that leads.

Shit on your carpet is hardly a problem in the grand scheme of things.

What's worth it for me is understanding ultimate reality. What's worth it is higher consciousness.

But since most people do not care about understanding, I cannot say if it will be worth it for you.

The point of this work is Consciousness itself. To develop a deep connection to the beauty of Consciousness. It takes a special kind of mind to appreciate that. If you prefer to live like an animal then it probably won't be worth it.

People have different values. If understanding isn't your top value it'll probably be less than worth it.

You have to know what is important to you first.

Pure understanding is not the only thing at stake here.

There is also Beauty, Goodness, Consciousness, God, Love, Health.

All of that is at stake.

But if you don't care about any of that, then spirituality is not for you.

I just want to point out that living like an animal and spirituality are not mutually exclusive
