I dont agree with this. Isn't it true that if an alien civilization were on the same technological level as us they would need to understand certain formulas? Of course an aliens wouldnt understand a human written formula. But how could you build a spaceship if you cant calculate the hypotenuse of a triangle? I agree that these models are not literally true but you would need to put reality into a certain model if you want to get the technological advancements, there seems no way around it. Mathematics has to be common ground to at least a degree.

I was thinking of creating a map that horizontally splits the best videos up in the categories of self help, and vertically from foundational to more specialised videos. More videos could be added into this map as they come out. This could be a good guideline and overview for newcomers. Does there exist something like this online where people here could collaborate on it? Like a shared excel document but also something that creates a nice map from the raw data.

by the way scientists dont say mathematics is a universal language because they are pretentious. Its because the only thing we can assume about life on another planet is that we share the same physical laws, so thats the only common ground we can safely assume.

But you just have to quantify distance in some way, and have some way to get the circumference of a planet. Tell just one way how you would get off your planet without doing that. You will have to put reality in a system that is simmilar to mathematics or it just wont happen.

@Leo Gura What about planets? These are naturally occuring shapes, spheres, no way around it. Aliens would have to know the concept of a sphere and calculate its circumference for spacetravel for exmaple.

You always read showing interrest or making a move creates attraction but my whole life I only had the opposite experience. Whenever I clicked with a girl, as soon as I showed romantic interrest (flirted with her, try to kiss her, tell her about my feelings, whatever) it never - ever - worked out. At this point on If I kept flirting with them or asking them out I could watch my attraction go to zero, if I didnt and just gave up we would basically stay friends forever or lose touch (I tried both). You cant win either way. The only time I could have the chance to have something going with a girl was when the girl started show interrest in me, and this is really rare it only ever happened 2 times in my life. When I had literally zero interrest in her, thats when I was dead sure I could get something going with them. So what are you supposed to do as a man? Basically you can only meet girls, sit back and wait for a girl to choose you. If you are ever the one who shows interrest first its over before it started. Its just a totally fucked system, its as if all of dating is completely based on the principle "I want what I cant have, and as soon as I can have it I dont want it anymore". Cant two people just develop mutual feelings for each other and things go smooth? I keep hearing about it but I have yet to experience it. Please prove me wrong or tell my why Im wrong, because this is literally 100% of my life experience and it cant be this fucked, right? Did I just have bad luck?

Strong negative emotions: Leo says allow it to happen and feel it fully and surrender. Its as if the emotion will run through you anyway and there is nothing you can do so you surrender to it. Sedona says to let it go. Go through the process a couple of times so you let the emotion go and feel better. It also says an emotion once let go wont come back. This seems like the opposite of surrender, it seems like the goal is to get rid of the emotion. Im sure these two somehow point to the same thing but I cant see how.

@Evelyn thanks. Does it always result in a childhood trauma? Couldnt it be lots of less tragic and more minor things combined over time, because I think thats what it is for me but I'll dig into it.

By the logic of the law of attraction you should visualize things you want in your mind and have positive thoughts about and it will come true in reality. Well I was attracted to a girl and like an idiot I sat on my couch and visualised naively how we will be together, had a positive mindest and how great it all will be. It felt great. Thats how I got myself into trouble. Of course reality doesnt work by wishful thinking and I got painfully rejected. By thinking these thoughts I formed an emotional attachement I now have to get rid off, and all because of stupidly daydreaming. I think this is the same with other stuff. By visualizing it you form emotional attachements and you will suffer if it wont go as planned.

@Evelyn With some emotions, for example my depression or a rejection I allowed myself to feel it fully a lot but it always comes back often within the same day. Not another issue like with the onion example but the same exact thing. Especially the depression and loneliness stuff is very persistent for me.

@SoonHei I still think it was random. When about a decade ago someone broke up with me I just wished to have them back for weeks. It was happening more than once. I was daydreaming and visualizing how good it would be to see them again etc. it was really bad, of course nothing like that ever manifested in reality. You cant manipulate people with your thoughts.

@cetus56 what do you want to know ? I dont want to go into the details here once again, this thread is not about my romantic life. But it keeps fucking with my mind as you can see, I just need to get over it.

@Nahm I didn't use law of attraction consciously, I researched about it after the fact. By reading about it this situation came to mind where I accidentaly did exactly what it says I should do, and it just made everything worse looking back. LoA should even work on people who dont know about it so thats not the issue. Looking back negative visualization would have been the better thing to do. @Nahm@cirkussmile

Its basically the exact opposite of the stoic technique "Negative Visualization" which is much better. Its assuming the worst so you wont get dissapointed. According to Law of Attraction this behaviour would make the worst happen. But in my experience things happen basically randomly, or at least not humanly predictable, which is as good as random from your point of view. Negative visualization will reduce a good amount of the suffering this randomness can cause.

The classic psychedelics are generally safer than other chemical drugs but thats it. The psychological damage is the main concern.

All the other objections about are Materialism that are brought up are valid in my opinion. But here is what I dont get when Leo talks about a materialist taking 5-MEO and realizing within 15 minutes that materialism is false. If you assume that Materialism is true and the brain creates consciousness that means the brain can create and hallucinate everything it wants, I dont see a contradiction there with psychedelic or awakening experience. Lets consider this computer analogy. If you compare consciousness to a computer program and the brain to the hardware with a substance like 5-MEO you have basically unlimited access to the hardware. You could construct a processor that will calculate 1+1=3 and the software will see no problem with that. You could implant all the stuff Leo talks about into the hardware and the person will think and act like he is enlightened. And from an outsider perspective you would see no difference. How do you know the difference between Sadhguru and a Schizophrenic? You dont. How do you know you are not inducing psychosis in yourself with all these techniques and psychedelics? The fact is nothing that ever contradicts materialism is in my personal experience yet even though I try to get these experiences. I dont think a psychedelic or awakening experience will do that for me though.
