  1. This book got me hooked on spirituality, I listened to it twice too, Eckhart's voice is pretty nice to listen to
  2. @Seeker_of_truth That's the thing. You stilll want it to dissappear like it's a bad thing. Completely own all your sensations including you sleepiness. You get sleepy because you get caught up in thought, you get caught up in thought because your are still working out how conscious works. Keep looking at thought and then ask yourself "Who is observing this thought?" This will create distance between your thoughts and your awareness. Over time you will improve at this and then you will naturaly become awake and alert. Just keep practising
  3. I have palpilations for quite some time now. Attached to these palpilations is a intense fear of my heart stopping. I had overcame this fear before but recently it came back. I stared working to change something about myself (not people pleasing anymore, letting go of some of the things I would early say are part of my identity) This is going quite good at the moment, I really feel myself improving at multiple parts of my life. I feel my awareness increasing and I feel a lot happier most of the time wheras a while ago I was very somber and depressed for the most part. Last evening I had an awesome meditation session and something weird happend during it. For like 20 seconds I complety forgot who I was. Everything felt very peaceful and quiet. After this had ended, an intense fear had come in it's place. This really got to me. The next morning it was still there and since then I have had the palpilations and fear of my heart stopping. I'm having a hard time dealing with this. Trying to accept and just embody it sometimes just increases the fear and then I feel really futile and scared that the palpilations increase. Is there anything else I can do that will help me see this as a challenge and overcome it? Regards, Max
  4. If you just started meditating your conscious is still finding it's way to develop. There will be times when you get sleepy. I have had this a lot when I started too. For now, try to notice when you get sleepy. How the sensations feel and what kind of thoughts your mind is producing. As soon as you can accept the fact that you get sleepy, it may occur that the sleepiness just disappears. But don't make it into a goal to stay awake, that will only make you neurotic and frustrated when you fail. Good luck with your practise!
  5. @Barna Exactly. Finding a teacher that fits your own personality is important. I tend to listen to a variety of different teachers though, I like the way they explain things differently. Sometimes I can understand a certain topic better when another teacher explains it. I believe that one should try and catch a glimpse of all the amazing out perspectives there.
  6. @Annetta Ty! I like Sadhguru a lot. The way he explains and looks at things just makes me very happy and hopeful towards my growth.
  7. I did not know about these different ways to reach enlightenment. Thanks for sharing this, very helpful. Also what I did not quite get is the difference between an awakening experience and enlightenment. Could anyone elaborate on that?
  8. This is quite interesting. Thanks for making my brain malfunction for a sec
  9. @Martin123 Never done mantra's before. What are the benefits of this practise? @Martin123 alright haha, I will commit to it
  10. Mutenrosh from dragon ball z.
  11. Have recently had an experience of unresolved trauma's I had to deal with. It gave me palpilations and a fear that my heart was gonna stop. I started accepting and observing this fear. Now that I almost overcame this I have to say, it was all worth it. Keep at it and the fear will slowly transmute in a deep rooted peace.
  12. @Shin How do you cross this line? Just keep practising to bring consciousness into your life?
  13. Make it a challenge not to move when you feel restless and you feel a deep urge to move. If you overcome this you will get better and better at it which will grant you more peace and an awareness when you do want to move again. So keep practising to just accept this feeling of unease and really just observe it. Good luck with your practise!
  14. @afonso Then, I should try 3 times of 2 minutes in a row? and that twice a day? In the video 'Concentration vs Meditation', Leo says you should start out at your level and then when you feel you are good at a certain level increase the time. Now, my concentration is pretty bad and I get discracted easily since I have ADD. So will I get more improvement if I increase the times I do 2 minutes?
  15. I have been practising this aswell for some time now. 2 minutes, 2 times a day. For some reason I don't feel any improvement though. Is there anything I should do differently?
  16. @Dodoster Thanks, healing that pain with awareness sounds quite interesting. I will try and practise this, I might even be able to see this fear and pain as a challenge to grow, Your response gave me some true hope.
  17. I have been doing meditation for somewhat more than a year now. Since a week I started feeling very scared sometimes. Like there was something wrong with my body. I have read somewhere that when you meditate, hidden away fears and such can bubble up. Could this be the case here? Regards, Max
  18. @Prabhaker Thank you, I will use your wisdom. If this ache persists I will see my doctor to clearify that there really is not something wrong.
  19. @Prabhaker I have, the doctor said my heart is perfectly healthy. Still the fear persists. I get scared when I feel my heart beating fast or 'skipping a beat' this makes it worse and worse and a whole fear-physical cycle is created by myself.
  20. @Prabhaker So if I feel a little ache in my chest and my mind immediately says "There is something wrong with your heart!", I should just observe? Thanks for your quick response.
  21. @Martin123 Thank you for his exercise, I'm gonna do it myself also. Also I would like to thank you for the emotional healing guide you put up. It is really profound and amazing, I'm gonna follow through with that aswell! You're an awesome person man!
  22. @Leo Gura I'm doing self development as a 17 year old. Sometimes I feel quite lost though, like which books to read, what meditation technique, if I should work as hard as I can or just read a little and meditate. Maybe that's just part of the journey.
  23. @eskwire Is there anywhere specifically I should look to gain more knowledge about chanting? Should I use an app or just find the mantra's and try it without any guidance?
  24. @eskwire Thanks a lot, I'm look to see a therapist but sadly wait times are really high at the moment in the Netherlands, also I have signed up for zen meditation lessons. I can meditate fine on my own but I found out that meditating in a group brings up my social anxiety, I think this is a great way to overcome that fear.
