  1. What are some examples of contradictions within science? How can one do science consciously within the limitations imposed on science today? What do you think science will look like 100 years from now?
  2. @tuckerwphotography It's also hard to fit all that into a two and a half hour show and still have a plot you can follow...
  3. This 1M subs video is going to be longer than the Spiral Dynamics series ?
  4. Here's my system: 1.5x speed Write down all important points and interesting tidbits that I want to contemplate further. I only write verbatim notes for the more practical episodes or ones where he presents a model like SD or Ego Development.
  5. Could you speak to the importance of personality types as it relates to personal development?
  6. What kind of music do you listen to? What are some things you've changed your mind about over the past few years (not necessarily spirituality-related, just about life)?
  7. SD actually only has one line of development: values. Moral, emotional, etc development corresponds to other models. While there seems to be some correlation between SD and ED, they are measuring 2 different things: SD tracks values while ED tracks ego development and meaning-making (pretty much how the ego makes sense of and relates to reality). Growth in ED is about sophistication of the meaning-making process. Read Ken Wilber's books Integral Spirituality and Integral Psychology for a deep dive into different lines of development.
  8. Another way to explain it is that the J and P determines whether your Judging or Perceiving function will be extroverted. So someone who's an INTJ has their Judging process (in this case Thinking) as the extraverted function (Te), which leaves the N to be introverted (Ni). Alternatively, someone who's an INTP has their Perceiving process as the extraverted function (Ne), which means that the Judging process will be introverted (Ti). Then the first letter (I Introversion or E Extroversion) determines which of those processes comes first! So for an INTJ: 1 - Introverted Intuition (NI) 2 - Extraverted Thinking (Te) And for an INTP: 1 - Introverted Thinking (Ti) 2 - Extraverted Intuition (Ne) Hope this helps!
  9. Yeah trust me, as hard as it may be, an apology goes a long way. And it's good to get into the habit of it when you're young.
  10. (Some) limits of Orange self-help: – No or little emphasis on emotions – Workaholism – Unfulfilling work life because usually not contributing – Hedonistic Adaptation – Not taking time to enjoy life – No focus on developing compassion – ... These are just a few I came up with off the cuff. Feel free to add! Stage Orange is limited depending on where YOU are on the Spiral, not in the absolute. If you're at Blue, then Stage Orange self-help is exactly what you need. Otherwise, it's limited because it's fundamentally materialistic, unemotional, anti-spiritual, and selfish.
  11. I would say don't get caught up in trying to embody every single characteristic of a stage to fully integrate it. We all usually have a few key areas in each Stage that we need to work on, and that are glaringly obvious once you look for them.
  12. "They are casting their problems at society. And, you know, there's no such thing as society. There are individual men and women and there are families. And no government can do anything except through people, and people must look after themselves first. It is our duty to look after ourselves and then, also, to look after our neighbours." – Margaret Thatcher
  13. Read I Will Teach You To Be Rich by Ramit Sethi. Despite the corny title, it's an excellent book on personal finance.
  14. I think it's good to get an overview of a subject. For more in-depth things I would use more specialized sources.
  15. @Zigzag Idiot @Max_V Wow, thanks! These are amazing resources.
  16. As an actor, I don't think that acting is deceptive in the way that, say, misleading, unconscious marketing is deceptive. They are two totally different worlds. The difference is that the unconscious marketer wants to mask his deception for personal gain. He's trying to one-up the audience, which is not the case with art. Don't confuse the art with the industry. If you try acting, you'll realize the only way to act is to be totally truthful. That's the beauty of it.
  17. Yeah I watched it. Powerful film. Green energy is not the be-all-end-all, something much more profound needs to happen.
  18. The upper class does benefit from social benefits, just indirectly. Example: How will their businesses survive if the majority of the population doesn't have disposable income? Where will those people find skilled workers if education is too expensive? But thinking in terms of indirect benefits or positive externalities is not very natural to most people.
  19. Can "Integrity" be a value? Or is it a little redundant? I've defined integrity as "alignment with values; honesty."
  20. I would take "objective" here to mean "non-ideological, not taking sides, looking at the situation from a higher perspective". And yes, there is no objectivity, either: everything is relative! The trick is that Yellow is able to understand and walk this paradox
  21. The main difference between Turquoise and Yellow is that Turquoise sees consciousness as fundamental. Yellow can still be stuck in the materialist paradigm.
  22. Great goal man! I love the idea of just spending a few months just relaxing... From reading your post, a few ideas came to mind: First, all these body-oriented practices are all leading you towards one thing (just like how all meditation practices lead you to just one thing): relaxing the body. If I were you, I would just focus on relaxing throughout the day, all day, every day. You don't need a practice necessarily when it comes to relaxing the body. Second, if you're a noob at meditation, watch out! Expect an ego backlash because despite what you think, your ego does not want to sit there and do nothing for months on end. Good luck to you
