“My heroes had the heart to lose their lives out on a limb, and all I remember is thinking, ‘I want to be like them’. Ever since I was little - ever since I was little, it looked like fun...and it's no coincidence I've come - and I can die when I'm done!” Maybe I'm crazy Maybe you're crazy Maybe we're crazy Probably

Thought you might like this...regarding self inquiry / inspection work.

Nahm replied to billiesimon's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God @billiesimon Very understandable. Decontextualize the entire landscape: ”Self inquiry and confusion - is this progress?” Scrap “progress”, and bring “realization” onboard. No one is “progressing”, there is nothing to “progress” towards. You are already complete, whole, and perfect. When the “aim” is changed to realizing this...this is the same as saying....realizing what is already the case, what is already actual. The love known on the trip is still present, identical to and synonymous with “now”... ever-present, eternal. Love does not come, love does not go. Thoughts - come & go. Simply notice, via relaxing, ‘allowing’, observing, seeing what is already the case. Scrap “confusion” and bring “seeing what is already the case” onboard. There is no longer the potential for “confusion”, as that is recognized to be a thought. The feeling of confusion, so to speak, is saying “let the thought go!”. What is “it”? (It is a ‘write off). There’s no “It”. “Self inquiry” is not an “it”. “Self inquiry” is a thought. Let the thought, go. Concepts arise, of you. Let them go. Sneaky thoughts arise, of you. Let them go. ‘They’ arise of you, like the drops of water at the very top of a sprinkler arise of the sprinkler. “The ride” to the bottom, is simply in letting the focus of “the top” (thoughts)....go. You might consider self inquiry to be exactly like: ”Don’t think of a pink elephant” <— that thought won’t “cut it”. It’s not actually helpful, because it is still focusing on “a pink elephant”....it is just sneakery...or, focusing on the absence of a thing, which focus wise - is still focusing on the same ‘thing’.

Nahm replied to billiesimon's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God @billiesimon Feeling is feeling, not any who. If you boldface any I’s, me’s, my’s, I’ve’s, Leo’s, character’s’, myself’s...in your op...it can be insightful and revealing of the very thought activity which is veiling feeling with a bunch of ’who thoughts’. The thoughts don’t hear a Horton - Horton hears “the who’s”...or...awareness is aware...thought - is not aware. I’s, me’s, my’s, I’ve’s, Leo’s, character’s’, myself’s <—— those are thoughts feeling is aware of, those thoughts are not aware.

You might be becoming more aware of how much overthinking goes on, and that the nature of it isn’t exactly pleasant. If so, the name of the game would be relaxing, breathing, and allowing - not getting sucked up into thought and or thought stories. Like that old story about the two black and white wolves fighting in each of us, and the one that lives, will be the one we feed. (Self-love)

Nahm replied to Rodrigo SIlva's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God @Rodrigo SIlva It relative, they can be both. Journaling might be good. Any chance getting what you want in life in front of you might unclog some things? Some self doubts etc?

I’d just keep it to....if a thought right now doesn’t feel good, let it go and relax. Do stuff that feels good. Get back to basics with diet & daily meditation. Let the body relax and release as needed. Don’t ruminate and think. Relax, and let go.

Nahm replied to billiesimon's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God @billiesimon Yes & no. There’s a difference between not conceptualizing, and feeling for the “answer”. Also, how quiet the mind is from meditation or yoga can have a lot to do with how self inquiry goes.
-
Nahm replied to billiesimon's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God The “answer” of self inquiry is feeling. So if there’s a contextual question, (a ‘perception question’ and or ‘feeling question’ is only contextual / conceptual) let it go. Letting it go is the key. The “work”. The fear is not of feeling, it is of thought. Let it go.

Nahm replied to Rodrigo SIlva's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God That ...(imo) is far better to inspect non-trip, than in a trip (going back to your op). The trip will ‘say’ there’s no you, no here, and you are not experiencing stuff...that feeling / here is not inside the body. That’s what “could be lost”, that’s the “fear”. You can ‘peel it off’ with a psychedelics, but that’s like taking a band aid off with a bulldozer. This is generally indicative (no offense) of a local culture of psych’s being “the work”, whereas imo they are “the reward”, the pleasure cruise through infinity, for having done the work.

Totally agree. ...and...“Surely” might have different connotations....might, might not, ultimately, be neutral.

@Prevailer “Glassy sea” is a ‘write off’, an a priori belief. A definition is also a thought, and not perception. “It” is also a ‘write off’, as is “equal measure” (hence the undefinability of ‘science’). The Prevailer is not anything it thinks it is.

@Prevailer “Atom” is like “cup” in that the actuality is a thought rather than perception. Thus, so too is positive, negative and neutral. Belief is a glass ceiling.

Nahm replied to okulele's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God Infinite intelligence = love = body = universe....it most often initially “goes to one’s head” (spiritual ego / claiming it as one’s own) until it is actually seen. Eventually that which is being “worked on” is ‘seen’ in actuality. That is a heck of a ‘pointer’! Sure ‘makes’ sense of ‘objective reality’.

Nahm replied to DreamScape's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God A bit too hung up on one or two comments in terms of fear and life (imo). Sometimes when the body releases, thought gets sneaky and “makes it about what someone said”, or maybe something that was read, etc. It’s not “about” any such thought story about a self, or death, etc. Totally relax and breathe and let any narratives go. Be present here now by tuning into perception and feeling. Understanding arises all on it’s own bubbly accord. Just relax and let thoughts that don’t resonate go, the body will do it’s thing. It’s precisely the most desirable outcome from the consciousness work you’ve been doing. When there is no judgement, there’s no fear. “My ego” doesn’t have the same ring to it that “my good friend” has. It should though, it got you this far. It’s a beautiful thing. If you’re not thinking about what other people think of you, and you’re not thinking about other people as such, and you’re not thinking about what other people are thinking about you, and you’re not thinking about a ‘you’ in a ‘past’, and you’re not thinking about a ‘you’ in a future - there’s probably 99% less thinking. In that same sense, intelligence is only here now. Such thinking is like a blockade to intelligence, or rather the awareness “of” it. Insights are only here now. Not found in a thought of past, future or self. If you expect to know what to do ‘in a thought’ (past or future) you’ll feel frustrated. Feeling doesn’t wander like the mind. It can’t “go there” (past or future). If you settle into the here now, only attentive to this, to what is, to only what is immediately present, you’ll see there is no fear. We don’t get to know what to do and what not to do. Reality is pure spontaneity, creation, so we listen mindfully to feeling & intuition. Life is, experience now, only. Any power experienced is of the source of the “idea of ‘you’” (Same ‘source’ ‘you’d’ be surrendering to). Nothing can be said to be lost in the loss of an ego, which is not itself just another claim of the ego. As far as ‘your life’ going crazy...the ‘divine force’ is already running the whole show. It is always safe to surrender. Look for letting go of resistances, be mindful of what you want to create. It’s literally just this now moment. That’s all one could be tasked with, and not even. “Caring what other people think” as a cover for self referential thought is ‘giving away power’ in the sense you mentioned, it is far from actual. Look to be conscientious & understanding. If you feel inclined to think on behalf of others, instead, notice the beauty and perfection of your body and your world. Others are thinkin about whatever they want, bees are buzzing, all is well. The more conscious of your own judgements of self & others, the more understanding, the less fear, and the more one is knowing truth and wonder. Always a good ‘path’ reminder imo...sensitivity increases. Often some tweaking is being beckoned. Sometimes diet, sometimes letting go of an old & unwanted narrative, maybe forgiving someone, maybe realizing something about reality was always just one’s perspective, etc. As the body is listened to more and more, it’s useful to listen to it’s requests, so to speak. They get more, and much more nuanced. The ‘no-way’ of just sitting, relaxing, and ‘listening’ is best, imo. If “it’s just awareness”, let any and all ego narrative go. It’s just a story. It’s got nothing on this actual story of this living, this life. That’s the real story.
