don't confuse selfishness with enjoyability, though... you don't need to step on others' heads to experience a great Life.

@tashawoodfall make it the best life possible. why not?

something less tourist-like and more pilgrim-like. @-Rowan explained it very well.

@beatlemantis i think you're in the wrong kind of relationship. as far as i can see, you wish to build a deeper relationship. you want to connect with someone else in the emotional level as well. but the guy is focused on getting laid with different women to explore his sexuality. ask yourself what you really want. what's your deepest desire when it comes down to living with a man and sharing intimacy? don't force your desire on your current partner because everyone is an unique human being. he's probably living his dream relationship and being sincere to his heart. but you seem to be the one who got yourself in trouble.

i agree with this on a general level. it's a valuable advice for those with weak practices. but there's a certain way of BEING that can touch their hearts in strange ways. deep listening and eye contact can reach them sometimes. of course, it's not recommended if your practice of mindfulness isn't strong enough.

pettiness is a pattern of destructive karma (thought/speech/acts). jealousy, for instance, is a petty attitude because it's rooted on insecurities, which are rooted in lack of self-knowledge. jealousy causes suffering all the way through from what one thinks about himself to what he thinks about others.

@Wisebaxter what's an "addiction"? my definition of addiction is attachment to a habit that weakens or destroys you. so there are vices and virtues. they're just toxic and healthy habits, respectively. there are tons of researches made about meditation. search for benefits and harms of meditation and then decide if its a virtue or a vice. -

@Ingit very nice. the beginning of the journey is astonishing, but don't stop when results don't show up very clearly. -

hm, it depends on how i feel at the current state of my life. right now i'm inspired by science and engineering and that's why i'm reading isaac asimov. -
@hikmatshiraliyev how do you spend your day? i mean, what's your schedule?

ok, i'll talk about my own experience and give you an example. god, i love statistics, probabilities, calculus, linear algebra, computer science and all of that. i found out about data science and i started to study it really really hard. then i got to know machine learning, deep learning, artificial intelligence. i was (and still am) amazed so i started a blog and created an account on kaggle. i've created tons of public material just because i enjoy it so much. then i sent my cv to a company that works with data science. they loved it and were like "get this guy quickly!". i work with what i love and the quality of my work is so high that they respect me a lot. i never did anything to please them. everything i do is because i truly enjoy it.

sorry to say, but that's a very poor way to live imo. it is possible to live in appreciation and to be appreciated without any kind of struggle to make up for external approval. this is true freedom... it's liberating! the hard part is that you may have to go through a purification process in which you'll teach yourself to let Love flow through you. you may become a highly magnetic person and even looking through your eyes will be a thrilling experience. that's just a glimpse of how far spiritual purification can take you. if you depend on external validation for everything you do in life, when will you be authentic? when will you get to know yourself and not a fake entity made up for others' tastes?
-
@ROOBIO i highly recommend that you drop the need for external validation. you gotta feel that you're living the dream life, otherwise it won't work. what you feel is what matters.

ajasatya replied to Devil's topic in Spirituality, Consciousness, Awakening, Mysticism, Meditation, God

yes, it is just another paradigm. it becomes a concept when you give it a name or try to explain it. "tell me a zen word or i'll kill this cat". wonderful koan! -
@floresflowerscgf i recommend groups that study the sacred feminine. get in touch with your discomfort until you get used to it. the malice is in your mind.
-
by knowing very clearly two things what you want what it takes to get it then you compare your daily practice with the 2nd item. do they match?

5 bucks to the first one who go sit down and admit to himself that he's been arguing here just to protect his own structure of dogmas about the world and himself. bbl. gonna get those 5 bucks asap! -

logic has its use but intellectual pride is a curse. the avatar of the smart/high consciousness/enlightened one is a huge trap. this is why true humility of heart is so rare. -
