  1. In terms of can I just do it with only meditation -> I'm not really not sure actually. Only doing meditation wouldn't address root causes. But I think it would make it a lot easier to cope with depression In terms of curing depression - > I think it's about becoming conscious of the root causes as to why you're depressed and begin implementing the solutions to getting out of it. But for example, if you have some deep nutrition deficiencies, depression/poor mental health may be much more prominent.
  2. fucking pumped for green
  3. @Charlotte thanks. i have to figure out a way to get some now
  4. can't go wrong with either of those guys. best in the field. eben pagan is responsible for many famous people becoming successful. including Leo and RSD for learning to youtube -> jumpcut for learning to build a digital product -> jumpcut russell brunson is also a top guy in the field. He has some great products Whichever one you pick, go fully until the very end in that one product. Do it completely I can recommend some products, however they're specific to physical products businesses. I haven't fully taken other business courses (but I've digested a lot of information through books and youtube videos)
  5. @Charlotte I'm really interested in micro dosing, for the exact reasons as you (PD & spiritual growth) What are the downsides of microdosing? I heard that it can increase my tolerance of psychedelics? So if I want to do real trips, it will make the trip a lot less effective
  6. @Sea not green, that's for sure
  7. thanks for contribution
  8. hes ideological about the gender debate as i understand, gender fluid is actually a thing. but it goes much deeper than that
  9. @Ether Agree. But to get to that point takes time or intense suffering
  10. Following your passion without a craftsman mindset is incomplete Do something just with a craftsman mindset is also incomplete because your values aren't being satisfied I say that newport's approach is incomplete, not wrong The evidence for values is in the definition of values. "What is most meaningful to you".
  11. Good luck man. I am out of energy. Let's agree to disagree
  12. I haven't read the book, but I've read the argument many times. I have several friends that go with Newport's strategy. But it makes no sense to me compared to Leo's strategy The craftsman mindset is 100% necessary by the way. However, I disagree that it's the only aspect of a meaningful career
  13. I define passion mindset as what @sidyakinian says. If your career matches your most meaningful values and you aren't cutting corners then you will be happy with your work Otherwise you will be unsatisfied because your needs aren't being met That's all In your article, Newport says "I argued that mastering a rare and valuable skill is the key to generating a remarkable life — much more important than following your “passions” or matching your career (or academic major) to your personality" This is contradictory to what I just said I prefer's Leo's style of work. A career that fits my personality, as well as following the craftsman mindset. Which is what exactly what Leo's LP course is about
  14. @BjarkeT My hypothesis is if your passion is doable, follow it. Because why wouldn't you? Something you're passionate initially that works with increased passion later with increased skills vs Something you're not passionate about that works with increased passion later with increased skills The scientific community doesn't come full circle on the topic They point out great arguments about the problems when pursuing passion, but they have to come full circle when realizing that the career that fulfills you the most is the one that satisfies all your deepest values. This will will be the most enjoyable and meaningful Leo's take in the LP course encompasses this wonderfully The problem that happens with just taking whatever you have and making it passionate later is that there's a very high chance that it doesn't match all your deepest values. It doesn't resonate with your soul as much. If you can make it match everything that you value the most, then by all means. But a regular 9-5, with almost certainty will not be even close to optimal. Take Leo's first job for example. He loved art and beauty but his job didn't encompass it in the way he wanted it. So he went to pursue something that was more "him". By "him" i mean pursuing something that made him happy. He took that and applied Newport's stuff on top of that. Newport only goes half-way You have to tread lightly with Newport's argument. It encourages settling with what you already to avoid venturing into the unknown It's my guess that this emotional labor and limiting beliefs is what prevents the scientific community from coming full circle
  15. @BjarkeT im still confused by this side If you have the ability to make your passion successful, why would you not do it? i think there are some mindset issues that people have when approaching passion such as lack of strategy, thinking itll be happy the whole time, not venturing into other fields etc. but you can build skill in nearly anything. so why choose something youre not passionate about?
  16. Cool thanks. I just found a worksheet of hers that doesn't pertain specifically to people http://thework.com/sites/thework/downloads/worksheets/facilitationguide_Eng.pdf
  17. I'm confused, does this only pertain to situations with people? I'm looking at the worksheets on her website and each one says to bring up a thought about another person
  18. It's very tempting to go to school because that's what everyone else is doing and you don't know what to do. Following the herd and not being an independent thinker and doing things the standard and safe path is so much easier and comfortable You have a lot more potential than what school can offer you Go to school as a strategic choice Strategic choice means doing it because it's RIGHT for you. There's hundreds if not thousands of routes of life you can go! Why are we going down a route that costs $100k with a promise of a 9-5 job in a cubicle with an average starting pay of less than $50,000? You go to school for 4 years then work for 2 then you'll break-even. You'll start your 7th year with 50k in a job you barely enjoy. 6 years is waaaay more than enough time for you to find out what you love to do and find a large part of yourself. In that time you can build a freelancing career, online small business around something you love, or maybe become a coach, learn business skills to make money out of a creative art endeavor. So many things! You'll also be doing things you WANT to be doing. You'll be much more inclined to do them and you will see that you're doing important things instead of feeling like you're wasting your life as a slave.
  19. this is going to be one awesome month cuz of spiral dynamics
  20. https://www.reddit.com/r/The100/comments/8rp5oq/s4_spoilers_echo_was_right/?utm_content=comments&utm_medium=hot&utm_source=reddit&utm_name=The100 I think OP in this post is blue Basically, in the 100, there's a part where a character does some very immoral things (murder), for the sake of her tribe. OP is defending the character by saying "she did it to save her tribe, so it's fine & good"
  21. You are judging people for making judgments. something something to do with your shadow. be careful
  22. wow this used to be me You have to break it down simpler and simpler. When you look at a concept that is too advanced to your current understanding you get overwhelmed and quit (that was me) It needs to be doable but challenging, So break down the problem into smaller parts and break those down too. If need be, you will have to go back to rudimentary concepts and work your way up If you're in Calc II and you're trying to solve series questions on chapter 8 but you don't know what the Sigma symbol even is, how are you supposed to do the problem! First figure out what sigma means and the other basic stuff and then do the simplest questions. You need to also develop true understanding. Just knowing a concept on the surface level can get you by, but if you understand the problem in its entirety it will be much much easier and you'll see why everything works the way it does instead of just memorizing stuff Contemplation works wonders here Start from a top -down approach to see what you have to deal with But then when developing knowledge, skill and understanding, do a bottom - up approach until you get all the way up
