  1. This is a war that the majority of users aren't effected by and don't have any tangible relation to. Eventually, attention wanes. This is normal and happens with every major conflict until there are noteworthy updates.
  2. You could instead try deleting the Youtube app on your device and disable recommendations on the Youtube page in your browser. I've done this and not having the algorithm feed you a stream of content breaks the spell very quickly in my experience.
  3. Third world countries are less developed and many ethnic immigrants tend to reflect that in my experience. I've never met a stage green middle-eastern person. That doesn't mean that immigrants from outside the western hemisphere (we're really talking about North Africans, Middle-eastern people here primarily) can't live in modern western societies and integrate well enough. In my experience, that is the case most of the time. A lot of stage green folk are being overly idealistic on this issue and need to better appreciate the challenges that immigration represents. Open borders are a fantasy. Immigration needs to be a controlled measure to add to a countries prosperity. Not detract from it like in Australia with its housing crisis. No one is responsible for "saving the world" or "the sins of the father".
  4. My definition is that passion is to connect with your interests. Interests being an emotional attachment to something for their (potential) beauty and joy. It is a felt thing and my definition is not an exact science in any way.
  5. The pricing is reasonable considering the quality of content and the fact it is a one time purchase. A lot of Business-in-a-box "courses" tend to be priced way higher than 250$ to create an artificial sense of value or have a recurring spending scheme.
  6. It seems harder for some than others to reflect on what they're wrong about. I guess its easy when you have regrets. Finally something I'm good at...
  7. I was wrong about my hippie spiritual fantasies in my early 20s (8/10 embarrassing). I was wrong about joining that scam course that promised a lucrative career as a coach (business in a box "course"), which ultimately cost me 1000s and a couple of years in my early 20s (9/10 embarrassing). I was wrong about not prioritizing friendship and extracurricular activities and spending too much time gaming (7/10 embarrassing). I was wrong about wasting my 20s and not truly living life.
  8. @Something Funny What kind of pain/suffering would you be proud/find fulfilling to bear? For example, working hard to provide for your family. Or study hard for an exam so you can get that degree.
  9. The reason men are having less sex now is because they are less social than before, spending too much time on their own with technology. Guys tend to attach importance to having sex but the truth is that sex isn't really that big of a priority for "isolated males". Incels care more about gaming than they do sex by virtue of their actions. Sex is more free than it has ever been, with modern contraption, the internet and the destigmatization of sex. You could hire a prossie and have sex by tomorrow if you really wanted to. Incel ideology convinces you of your own inadequacy and powerlessness to change. And it just makes you feel worse, all while not being true. It is cringe.
  10. Wow, she's smart. She seems very aware of cultural indoctrination.
  11. Any examples? For research purposes .
  12. Evil = selfish
  13. Society doesn't work like that. An individual might but society is too big and complex for that to be the case. What you could define as problems are the effects of how we survive as a society. The solution to these problems are never "easy". It is not easy to switch away from fossil fuel because there are no current viable alternatives that meet our needs. Pollution is a necessary consequence of our dependence on fossil fuel. Even when we have alternatives, that requires shifts in how we think and conduct ourselves. Wars had to be fought to eradicate slavery or install democracy for example. Giving up on selfishness can be one of the hardest things to do if your selfishness benefits you. People often have to suffer to grow spiritually.
  14. Things getting worse due to the excesses of a stage might be what is necessary for a society to finally transcend that stage. It does suck though to lose your job to AI. I really feel for the people who suffer as a consequence. We might reach a point where people are completely changing careers multiple times throughout their life due to AI. The sense of redundancy and powerlessness must be disheartening.
  15. I think game can expand someone's view on certain topic, emphasize on "can" since games are entertainment first and foremost. I've been playing a lot of Hell Let Loose lately, which is a realistic WW2 shooter where you die in one hit and it is makes me appreciate the subtle horror of combat. You will get shot at all the time in this game but rarely will you be able to clearly see the enemy. Often you will suddenly die to an enemy hiding in a bush 200 meters away (but you don't know what bush). You have to learn to fight invincible enemies due to the distance and lethality of cartridge based firearms. Then there is artillery. You can die at no fault of your own to an airstrike at seemingly random. The only way you can maybe predict it is if you know you are in a strategically important area of the map. A guy can be running in front of you on moment and be gone the next. Brutal and scary because you are fighting an invincible enemy.
  16. People usually commit suicide because they perceive there to be no hope of getting out of a painful situation. It is a form of escape usually done on impulse. It is why health professionals always ask how you are planning to kill yourself so they can assess how much of a danger you are to yourself. Like if you own a loaded gun or something. I hope you get the help you need. I'd wager that you are suicidal because you're in pain somehow.
  17. You can call it what you want but the point is that you are not having sex with a biological woman. That is an unavoidable factor in many cases when you get down and dirty with it. And the statistics reflect this in straight men's dating preferences when asked if they'd date a transwoman. I agree. I'm purely arguing from the perspective that people have a right to determine their own sexual preferences. I see push back from certain LGBTQ folk that it is wrong to exclude trans from one's sexual preferences. Its not the content but the principle. It doesn't matter why or for what reason, no one has the right to demand or belittle someone else for their sexual preferences. This is not even a discussion.
  18. Pressure to perform is very normal and real for many people, myself included. I've learnt from experience that making a project "enjoyable" isn't just important for not burning out, but necessary. At least for myself personally, I can't turn art into a grind. Sometimes you need to take a break as well so listen to your body. I've had many breaks, some out of sheer sense of fatigue from making art. I'm teaching myself to always ask "how can I make this project more enjoyable. When it comes to the disparity between your current skill and vision, the solution is to just keep at it. It is a numbers game. I view every finished product as a stepping stone towards where my vision lies for the kind of art I want to make. And I don't want to let go of that in some sort of Buddhist sense because that vision is glorious. I have a OneNote journal dedicated to my art, where I compile all my finished creation in order of date of creation, each section showcasing a year. This allows me to look back at how my art changes with time. I can clearly and quickly see how I get better as time passes. Seeing my growth displayed this way is encourages me to keep going. It really is a numbers game given that you earnestly try to improve and work on projects that you find enjoyable. One day you'll suddenly realize that you are "getting there". That feeling is worth it. I'm still learning to turn my mind off and surrender more to the process.
  19. There's nothing in nature that says its wrong to fling poo at people. Morals are not inherently self-evident as they are mental constructions reflecting your particular survival situation. Modern humans ARE in a sense spoiled and out of touch with raw survival. You don't see people in tribal societies acting squeamish when they suffocate their goat to death for dinner. Empathy is a first world problem.
  20. There's an upcoming election where I live and I have no idea what to vote for. I have very little knowledge of the political landscape here and I don't pay attention to any news or politics. I know next to nothing I'm sorta a blank slate. The only reason I know that an election is coming up is because I saw signs hanging outside and I looked up if an election was on the way. How do you vote in a general sense? what are some principles for voting consciously?
  21. Denmark. I'm wondering more specifically for general principles for a conscious voting practice.
  22. I personally agree, but the leading factor for people not having kids is still cost. Kids are deficit today whereas in the past they where profitable. And the poverty thing goes both ways. If your kids are poor then that means that you're poor and you'll have a more difficult life as a result. Having kids when you can't afford to can ruin or at least make your life greatly more difficult than otherwise.
