@Roman25 Can / does the brain learn to compensate for the increased volume of ordinary sounds? I have tinnitus. I have learned to forget about it most of the time, but in a quiet room it can become quite annoying. I often wish I was able to hear absolute silence again. -
I'm sure you can work on it.

Not sure I understand the question. How many pavements have you foot-fucked?

Dogs can have very emotive eyes, very human. "Sad puppy eyes" trigger the human caring instinct in most well-adjusted humans. We've evolved to recognise this visual cue in our own species, so it seems logical enough that those unable to recognise it probably do lack normally-functioning connections between the different parts of the brain responsible for empathy. Speaking as someone who has been accused of being a psychopath by a bipolar ex-girlfriend, I'd agree that the term is overused in general. Some of these terms - "narcissist" being another - really exploded on to the scene in 2018 or so. Dehumanising others suddenly became the easiest, nuance-free way for Generations Y and Z to explain all of their emerging existential anxiety and depression without taking personal responsibility. Of course the real cause was social media addiction and the insatiable search for pellet-sized dopamine hits. Nuance ultimately requires a far greater neurological overhead than can be summoned from atrophying grey matter.

@Someone here One of the most amazing things about the psychedelic breakthrough experience, especially when integrated with deep contemplation over years, is that you realise that there really is no "you" - at least not in the way you think there is. The sense of you-ness will never go away, even when you die. "you-ness" does not include your thoughts, and it does not include your past. Meditate, and you may notice that "you-ness" is still there even when you're not thinking at all. -
I was due to go and see Litvinenko's widow talk at the Frontline Club in London a few years back, but the day before she was due to speak, the Salisbury poisonings happened. I decided it might be best not to go as she may also have been a target. Yes, no doubt Russia has taken people out to avoid exposure of KGB / FSB antics. To take the obvious example, it's generally accepted that the Apartment Bombings in 1999 were an FSB operation and were used as a foil for a second Chechen War. Around 300 Russian civilians were killed in those bombings, and 1000 were injured. Several of the journalists working to expose the FSB's involvement were shot or poisoned: Anna Politkovskaya was shot in the elevator of her apartment block; Alexander Litvinenko (who wrote two books about it) was assassinated in London; several diplomats were killed as well. Wikipedia's list of assassinated or "disappeared" people connected to the case is actually very shocking. Putin clearly has a history of acting against his own people in order to achieve a desired outcome. However - Neo Nazism in Ukraine has been a problem since the fall of the Soviet Union. The ultra-nationalist, white supremacist Svoboda party was founded in 1991. C-14 (Svoboda's youth wing) was founded in 2010 with the mantra: "We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children", originally a slogan coined by US domestic terrorist David Lane. Andriy Biletsky (founder of Asov) and other militias assisted in the Maidan Revolution in 2014. Some were actually released from jail in order to support Ukraine's military response at the front line. Now, I suppose it's possible Putin funded these militias because he wanted Yanukovych to lose power for some convoluted decade-long power play, but it seems very unlikely. Some of the militias which began occupying the SU power vaccum (from 1991 onwards) became embedded in the foundations of the Ukrainian establishment. Azov for instance is now part of the National Guard which showboats its extremist values. Just the other day they posted up a video of Azov battalion members dipping bullets in pig lard to go after muslims. The founder of C-14 was made chairman of the Ukrainian parliament in 2016. A Putin puppet? I don't think so. Poroshenko was directly threatened by Asov. I don't think these militias are in general a Russian-orchestrated Casus Belli as you appear to be suggesting. Some have received training, funding and weaponry from Western powers including Canada. In terms of a more likely conspiracy theory, there has probably been some attempt at destabilisation of the region by Western powers. This ultimately builds a narrative to move Ukraine into Nato. Except it may be backfiring. I think this situation is more akin to the CIA funding of Mujahideen fighters during the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan in the 80s. Of course that's how Al Qaeda was born, and - in the absence of a nuclear war to render all of this completely irrelevant - the long term risks here to regional stability are quite similar.

This in itself is harmful. 'Psychopathy' is hugely overdiagnosed, particularly by those reeling from painful breakups. The buzzwords peddled by mindless media pundits during the years of the Trump administration were "narcissist" and "psychopath". And sadly, this zealous appetite for labelling with impunity spread out into the wider culture. Early education to "spot psychopathy" would merely serve to increase paranoia. And paranoia is the real problem we're facing.

I don't mean to sound trite, but a breakthrough experience with any of the DMT forms would make you feel pretty confident regarding what happens after "death". Regarding 'Eternal Recurrrence': Consider that all of "time" actually just exists as an unfathomably complex object in space (it doesn't, but getting too metaphysical here will render the metaphor useless). YOUR BODY, BRAIN, PAST, FUTURE, ETC AKA 'Someone here', exists as a particular part of this unfathomly complex object. It never moved forwards nor backwards in time because time was something you were imagining all along. Everything you consider to be your human self, including all of your thoughts, experiences, entire history etc is still at the same place it always was. It never moved. What happened was that your attention moved. -
The book is overly long but contains one of the finest monologues in English literature. The dialogue (when uncut, as has typically been the case) doesn’t translate well to film. Ayn Rand was a great author, but a poor scriptwriter.

I knew it would be Kastrup before I clicked. He has some interesting books out, particularly the deep dives into Carl Jung etc. He probably has more in common with Jung than with Leo actually. -
Very interesting, thanks.

Spit it out. You missed the beauty of Atlas Shrugged.

My advice to you is to look at the news / propaganda from both sides. Strip out conflicting information, and you may be left with a kernel of something at least vaguely resembling truth. Putin talks about Neo Nazism in Ukraine, and so does a lot of Western Media, although most of its investigative reporting into the matter was prior to the breakout of war.
-
Your government is lying to you. Neo Nazism has been a growing problem in Ukraine since the fall of the Soviet Union. Today it is embedded in the very foundations of the establishment. Andriy Parubiy founded C14 (white supremacist party) in 1991, and in 2016 he became the Chairman of the Verohovna Rada (Ukrainian parliament). This is an embarrassment. Andriy Biletski founded the Neo-Nazi Asov Militia. He was serving time for conspiracy to murder in 2014 when he was given early release from prison to assist in the fighting against Russians in Eastern Ukraine (in the wake of the coup against Yanukovych) Poroshenko, under mounting public pressure, inaugurated Asov as an official battalion in the official National Guard of Ukraine. Again, this is an embarrassment. Imagine if the KKK was made part of the US Army. Tacit support for Neo-Nazism is by now a pernicious force in Ukraine. Legacy Western Media has covered this issue quite a bit in the past, but of course now it doesn’t serve the agenda to present anything nuanced. This is the way it always goes now. Present the most simplistic messaging you possibly can, lie back and watch the divisiveness unfold. I believe Putin is going about this the wrong way, and I don’t necessarily think he’s altogether sane, but he is absolutely correct that Neo Nazism is a real issue in Ukraine, and ethnically Russian inhabitants of Donbas have suffered at their hands for years.

I find it interesting that in 2014 there was a vote to repeal the laws protecting regional languages. The vote was vetoed at the time by Oleksandr Turchynov who believed these languages should have a right to exist, particularly since there were so many ethnic Russians living in the East of the country. Nonetheless after years of wrangling, new "more constitutional" laws were introduced in 2019 which largely enforce the use of Ukrainian language nationwide. In Western and North-Central Ukraine here does appear to be a degree of public disdain / dislike towards Ukraine's ethnic Russians in the East. Some of this is a natural result of the fall of the SU in 1991 and is not dangerous as such. But there also appears to be a degree of overt hostility in the form of Neo Nazi militias such as Azov and C-14. The former is now recognised as part of the National Guard, and receives training and funding from Canada. It is also troubling to see such events as Andriy Parubiy (founder of white supremacist ideologues Svoboda / C14) becoming chairman of the Verkhovna Rada in 2016. It is seemingly not difficult to paint a picture wherein "ethnic cleansing" appears to be a latent agenda. So a couple of questions: 1. Do you see a future wherein Neo Nazism and related corruption in Ukraine can be thoroughly cleaned up? 2. Does the western funding, training and provision of advanced weaponry to Ukraine's Neo Nazi militias scare you? As personally I think this may end up being an even bigger issue than the horrible stuff we're currently seeing.

You won't see this reported in any western media, nor in any global media which is allied against Russia. It's a really difficult world at the moment. So much of what we see and hear is propaganda. I find the only way to find the truth amidst all the inevitable propaganda is to look very closely at what is being reported from both sides, and strip out the differences. What remains is at least a semblance of facts untainted by the emotive biases of any given state. It's not ideal, but it's all we can do to avoid being brainwashed.

Canada is an interesting one. In December last year, Russia proposed a UN resolution against Neo Nazism and glorification of Nazism. Canada was the only Western country to abstain from voting. Perhaps this is because since at least 2018, Canada has been funding, providing weaponry and assisting in the training of Neo Nazi militias in Ukraine. This includes the Azov Militia which is now, absurdly, part of the Ukrainian National Guard.

Interesting story. Of course Putin is scared. One thing Covid has taught us (as many, but not all noticed) is that the mainstream media of any given nation is chock full of self-serving propaganda. Anything you see on the news simply cannot be trusted, least of all in times of war. Putin is scared because Ukraine is the last buffer territory that exists to prevent the US from positioning its weapons within striking distance of Moscow. The shadowy figures in your vision certainly include the US and the EU. They might also include Britain, and a fourth is less obvious, but perhaps it is Russia itself.

@XxxDenyYourLies You’re quite wrong, and actually it is your view that is terribly outdated. If I had to put a date stamp on it, I would say it fits somewhere between 1850 and 1920. Your own argument “You know you’re wrong and that’s why you had to create a self-affirming post about it” could also be applied to you. In fact, since this is your only post on the forum, you’ve clearly created an account for the sole purpose of self-affirmation. @everyone else You’re also wrong. Infinity cannot be captured or understood by the mind. it is fun to think about, but you’re making a grave mistake if you think you’ve somehow fully awoken. It is not possible to fully awaken. This is naivety. Trying to capture the ultimate truth is like trying to capture the entire Milky Way galaxy in a 30cm butterfly net. The correct answer is *always* “I don’t know”. -

Sounds exactly like Labyrinthitis. This might help: I HIGHLY recommend you consider medical possibilities for your symptoms before you label them a "Kundalini awakening". -

It's not that you can control "some" thoughts. You can't control any thoughts. It is impossible to choose how often you will think the thought "bird". You might think that you are choosing to think the thought "bird", but notice that the sense of choosing is - again - only a thought. All thoughts, all actions, everything that happens in the universe is wholly governed by (meta)physical processes already in motion, over which you have no control whatsoever. Saying you can control these processes at all is to suggest you can manifest things independently of all the cause and effect relationships of the universe. You can't. Thoughts do not exist independently of cause and effect relationships - they are wholly subordinate to them, just like everything else. It is all in motion already. You can verify this by trying to manifest an apple in your hand right now. If you find this tricky, maybe try to manifest just a slice of apple instead. Still no luck? There ya go. -
