It's like a dog chasing its tail, it doesn't realise it is the tail already -
He probably means well and theres lots of good info in terms of body movement, bioenergetics etc so theres value, but ive never really resonated with him and i cant my finger on why not but it is what it is, you resonate with some people and not others

Yeah its probably not worth it, i do like talking about it but i would only do so if the person was extremely open minded or they asked me about it. If its the first time someones hearing about it, its impossible for them to switch from what they currently believe to what youre telling them as it will most likely contradict everything they 'know' so its a big ask. Ask yourself whether you wouldve just bought in if someone had told you about non-duality a few years ago. In terms of your family, just find the easiest way to tell them what they need to hear, you could be going to a camp instead of calling it a retreat for example -
I was gonna make this point that youve touched upon here, but what i noticed is that they love drawing you in to whatever emotions theyve got, in fact they live for it. So they may say stuff specifically to rile you and get you emotionally invested, it can even be quite subtle, but i find it helps just to recognise the tricks they do and dont get caught by the bait. Like you said the best way really is non-reaction, if they realise they can never get an emotional reaction from you, they will soon give up and move on to the next person

going to the gym used to give me that but not as much anymore, ive always found sport is the best way. I used to play football but cant anymore because of injury so ive recently started boxing which feels really difficult because im not used to it but ideal to get into the flow because theres a lot to learn. Also i find having a good discussion or talk with friends or family, but im also finding ways to incorporate more flow, i think its one of the most important things in life as a whole and its definitely not talked about enough

Good stuff, i also suffer from OCD/anxiety and can agree 100% reassurance is really the thing that just keeps the cycle going. Feels hard not to do it but its so important

I work from home as well and have been for the last 4 or 5 years. Ive got a foot in both camps, on one side i think you should embrace being alone and actually if you cant then itself is something to work on, being ok with yourself by yourself. On the other side it can get lonely and it is important to have connections with people. But ive noticed recently that sometimes i do feel a bit uncomfortable in social situations because im used to my own space. I try and do both, so i try and embrace the alone time, do my work, research, walks, whatever. What i noticed is that before i used to put pressure on myself, saying you should do more, you should party, meet more girls etc etc, once this got a bit more quiet, i started to see being alone as not a bad thing at all. On the other connections are good, so i go to the gym at least 3 times a week and train with one of my friends, so we talk for an hour or so, i also am quite friendly there so i talk to other people (obviously i go to work out but this is a side effect lol). I also talk to friends and family on the phone and hang out with the girl im saying a couple times a week. Also looking into doing a boxing class. So although its a bit of a comfort zone, i feel that it gives a baseline routine where im alone but i also will connect with people at least once a day. Its just about finding a routine that will allow you to do this, but i also i think in society we look down upon those who spend time by themselves and this creates a shadow within a lot of us about doing it, so that also needs to be overcome i believe

Balance is definitely needed, no theory just running wild can be dangerous, conversely all theory no action can be very ineffective. Its not a zero sum game.

I think your question has been a little mis-interpreted, what you're talking about is big picture thinking. If you're working with quite logical people they tend to think on the day to day level and can sometimes not ever think about the bigger picture. So for example I used to work at a supermarket and everyone was so concerned about the day to day that they didn't do things like put more resources in to social media, which could have got them a lot more customers and build up good will. So in these situations ideas are not actively looked for it's more about just keeping the status quo. Has that touched on what you meant at all? In terms of how to convince someone to think in a big picture way, in short you can't or it will be very difficult, so the best way to do this is to lead by example, you think in this way and put forward your ideas, eventually one will be good enough to put into action or just the way you're thinking will encourage others

Put it like this, the bible was written in a time to describe many things that are intangible. This was be psychotherapy, modern science, psychologists, evolutionary biology and many other ways of thinking we take for granted. But the experience of what these disciplines attempt to study and understand has always been with us otherwise there would be no need for the disciplines. So to explain how these very real things happened metaphors and language had to be used. In terms of the devil, it would seem more realistic that when its mentioned in the bible its talking about a side of us, one that is capable of evil, essentially the ego, our attachment to thoughts. The mind is uncontrollable, so if evil thoughts are going through it we may get confused and think we are the evil thoughts and that we are evil but of course that can not be true as we are the perceiver of any thought, so the devil is if we completely embody the thoughts and they take over us creating an almost completely separate entity, the reality of course is that we've mistaken that for us. I find it interesting that people think the bible is describing physical phenomenon, when surely its a spiritual practice, spiritual meaning not physical. If the bibles anything its an attempt to decipher the spiritual not the physical, so therefore the devil would have to be a metaphor for that

Sorry to hear that man, it seems like you're really attached to your 'self' which you see in a negative light. There's a lot of issues there with your dad etc so I think you need to talk to someone just to get a better understanding of everything. You also have a strong desire to silence your mind, which 'you' can't do you can only let it be, it's like a scab, if you keep picking it, it gets worse and doesn't heal but it's a compulsive thing

So whats the answer then? if you have an enlightened leader who wants to upgrade consciousness assuming he doesnt give in to devilry, he will get followers that after he has gone could use his words for their lower consciousness desires and drives just with the leaders name attached, which obviously has been happening for thousands of years. So what can be done about raising consciousness? It seems this situation will always tip into a cult either pushed by the leader or followers, so is it better to take the solo path rather than follow someone?

There needs to be some kind of interaction with you, you cant expect people just to click on random music on youtube, youre competing with tons of artists. If you had say live performances, studio sessions, funny videos, interviews anything, then the content would be more appealing. you have to think what value am i providing my audience, how am i helping their life, that can be entertainment, educational or something that makes them think. So maybe you could teach guitar or something, so far theres nothing you have now that would make me click on your video, so in its current state you wont grow very quickly if at all. You also need to post regularly, minimum once a week.

To his credit he's an excellent debater but he definitely has his agenda and i feel that people who have this skill can argue proficiently for literally any cause or ideology, therefore it makes the whole thing redundant. You either aim for truth as much as possible or you try and reinforce your ideology amongst the masses, he knows his audience, he knows how to debate and this can be very dangerous for those that tend to follow ideologies. I put all of these types in one category no matter what their content is, theyre trying to get you to believe something rather than exploring ideas with you

But surely non-duality only an experiential knowing, for example I can hear all the descriptions of what its like to go to Thailand, i think that i know Thailand exists, i can imagine what it might be like drawing from other places ive been, but i can never know what its like until i experience it for myself and go there. Theres literally no way around this, i would have to experience it truly know it and even then its only the experience that is valid, even a memory of having been there will not do it justice. So if you can logically push your way through experienced Thailand then maybe you can do that non-duality but i doubt it somehow

Its true, theres some women men will flat out never approach just based on looks. At least men have some kind power in their hands that they can work on other areas, become confident etc and they themselves can approach

I mean, the pendulum went so far to the right with Donald trump that inevitably someone to the left will get voted. Bernie Sanders wasn't a million miles away last time, it's not impossible for Marianne to get voted in but there will be so much backlash as most of America is not ready for someone like her in the political sphere, so it probably could do more damage. I mean she's yellow going toward turquoise when most voters would be blue, orange and a little green, she's way too early

See this is a good point, if a person thinks theyre attractive they act in an abundant way ie the way attractive people act and this is attractive in of itself. Alternatively without being deluded, you can just have belief in your abilities to attract women. In this video below, its someone who wouldnt be considered attractive conventionally but has a lot of confidence, see how he does -

Yeah i pretty much agree. What people mean by free choice is, 'i make choices on my own and independent of anything else'. But as you allude to it is impossible to make a completely independent choice and thats without getting into the whole 'who is making the choice' stuff. Essentially free will is a concept which doesnt really hold up under investigation or contemplation
