  1. @snowyowl We create the relative cosmos of duality for a reason, right? Nonduality is changeless, timeless, depthless. We are the abode of duality. We dream, because the discovery of our Self is delightful, otherwise what is there to discover?
  2. You got it All experience is limited and finite. It has a beginning and an ending. Life is inherently conditional, and always transient. With every life, there must be death. Nothing is needed, beyond who you already are, and always are. If you are not suffering, it seems that you have already realized this. It is rare not to suffer, and to simply be. Enjoy the not-suffering of the dream.
  3. Consciousness has the capacity to voluntarily sleep. Simple as that
  4. Make your life a meditation. You don't have to sit in a dark cave to let go of the monkey mind, and simply be present. Internal connection vs. external realization. They are both ultimately the same.
  5. I suspect there is a correlation between ego and authoritarianism.
  6. Consciousness creates. Not because it gets bored, but because creativity is its essence. Consciousness has no choice in the matter. It does what it does, because it is what it is. Simple as that.
  7. Western mystics: John of the Cross, Teresa of Avila, Meister Eckhart Eastern mystics: the Buddha, Shankara, Meera, Ramakrishna, Ramana Maharshi
  8. The feast is here, and everyone is invited. The ego is hungry for something better, which is not actually better, but it wants to feel superior, and so it leaves the table. The feast is already abundant and delicious. Fools look for food where there is none, failing to see the feast that is already here now.
  9. Live with integrity, love yourself, and realize yourself in everyone else. Easier said than done, but there you go.
  10. Are you the monkey mind chatter, or the silent, spacious Awareness in which the words arise?
  11. That explains why "T" was high. Spiritual giftedness, it could be argued, is the capacity for letting go of "T" and simply being. Not to say there aren't plenty of woke folks across all categories
  12. Define "giftedness". The person listed in the Watkins Review as the most spiritually influential person in the world is an INFJ:
  13. Consciousness isn't even conscious of itself, in certain states. How else could it "awaken", except by pretending that time and existence are real? It's the extra-cosmic interplay between formless and form, the dream within ultimate reality.
  14. Look at the mystics across every belief system: Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Islam, etc. The defining feature is direct realization of truth, beyond conceptualization. This direct realization is recognized as the ultimate authority, and the only voice worth trusting.
  15. I have read the bible numerous times, as well as some beautiful Indian/Buddhist scriptures, like the Bhagavad Gita and the Dhammapada. At the core, they reveal the same essential truth. Traps to avoid are concepts, beliefs, and any other claim that cannot be directly realized. Also, be careful about any organizations established around these beliefs. Ultimately, it is an individual journey, back to the non-place of non-individuality. As Aldous Huxley summarized, the Perennial Philosophy appears in every age and civilization: There is an infinite, changeless reality beneath the world of change This same reality lies at the core of every personality The purpose of life is to discover this reality experientially, that is, to realize God while here on earth
  16. Entirely endorsed, I loved it when I saw it a few months back. Consciousness is so infinitely creative. ?
  17. See the same Self in your friends and family. Look beyond the personalities, and see Yourself in them. Just love them, without expectations, because they are You. If you are truly awake, their state of seeing is just part of the game, so make it easier for "them", and for "yourself", by simply loving and being Oh, and don't count the ego out. It is always there, waiting in the wings.
  18. Yep, you are wrong. Material wealth will never deliver internal happiness and peace. To the contrary, the pursuit of wealth is a distraction of the ego. It is an endless appetite that will never be satiated, as long as your identity is entrapped by it. This guy named Jesus met a rich dude one time and told him this: If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.
  19. Psychopomp is a bit of a red flag, but not entirely. Psycho: A crazy or mentally unstable person. Pomp: Ceremony and splendid display, especially at a public event. By what standard, though? Most "normal" people, particularly those of the Western persuasion, consider mystical insights to be delusional. Ultimately, who cares what they think? The whole point is to let go of thinking, and choose being.
  20. Awesome ? Awakening is a beautiful moment of lucidity, which often is followed by falling back to sleep. Enjoy the clarity, celebrate it, and remember it. Enlightenment is the unconditional state of Self-awareness, and it requires vigilance and patience, to establish an immovable island, that will not be deceived by the conditioned mind. The ego doesn't give up easily. It is a long and bloody battle. You are wise to realize that the struggle is far from over. Celebrate this, and learn to continue celebrating this, until nothing else matters.
  21. I agree. Wealth, in a broader sense, is the accumulation of anything in abundance, including conceptual knowledge. To pass through the eye of the needle requires detachment from identification with wealth, in whatever form it may take. It is the realization that you are the eye of the needle itself.
  22. Like begets like. Any addiction, like chasing after money, only becomes stronger the more you engage in it. Addictions always lead to unhappiness in the end, because they lure you away from yourself. There's nothing wrong with making money, just don't let it define your happiness. Realize that you do not have to suffer, and enjoy every step of the journey. Goals are great, as long as they don't distract you from the infinite greatness that you already are.
  23. I lean toward the valve theory, as espoused by Aldous Huxley and others. His letter explained his motivations as being rooted in an idea that the brain is a reducing valve that restricts consciousness, and hoping mescaline might help access a greater degree of awareness (an idea he later included in the book). The brain is a mechanism used by Consciousness, to hide from itself, until it discovers itself. The challenge of the game is to unlock the deep subconscious reality that is there, initially beyond our grasp, but ultimately obtainable through sincere seeking.
  24. Welcome to the forum, @Gianna God is All. Selfless and selfish are dualities, within relative reality. All dualities abide within God, but do not define God. God is both the caretaker of the cosmos, and is beyond the cosmos. Lord of the gods, you are the abode of the universe. Changeless, you are what is and what is not, and beyond the duality of existence and nonexistence. You are the first among the gods, the timeless spirit, the resting place of all beings. You are the knower and the thing which is known. You are the final home; with your infinite form you pervade the cosmos. - Bhagavad Gita 11:37-38
