  1. There r a lot of women that are good, kind, selfless, emotionally available. My first gf was all of these, when i had nothing. And she was pretty and very ambitious. Careful generalizing
  2. @YIDIRYIDIR fr it's not even about reading necesssarily. it's literally about directed learning enroute a goal. which is what every normal person does. but us self help junkies read like monkeys with no aim there's a dude on this forum that asks the same question "what is a good book for success" for years and he just sits there reading self help books on success lmao (sorry bro ily)
  3. It's only ineffective if the reading is arbitrary and unfocused. If you want to become informed on politics then taking some uni classes and reading some top politics books will inform you a bit But yeah it can def be ineffective if it is aimless and ur reading random stuff But it is also essential to be an expert at things Like if you want to be a financial analyst. Theres a ton of education you need. But if u just read the power of now or smtn and dont meditate as a result then yeah lol
  4. @Carl-Richard economics. parts of the courseload was going over the limitations of their work. Like problems with data sets, alternate theories, limitations of the scientific method. I had 2 months in two of courses where we just talked abt flaws in the research and research in general
  5. I actually generally think it has few blindspots outside of consciousness work. At least the professors i speak to are decently aware of the limitations of their work
  6. i think the practical value of epistemology/philosophy has a super quick cap. Ime it can help you with having a better belief system, morality, exesential inquiries and criticial thinking and a few more. Which are important but There are also other fundamental human needs that are foundational I just don't see it as either/ or. Nor should you
  7. @Leo Gura also i think its important to discuss how india got to where it got to? India was colonized for hundreds of years, britian turned it into a 3rd world country, stole all its wealth, instigated mass famines during ww2 Like without that part it feels incomplete. Like we are criticizing india without seeing its roots
  8. You gotta be aware when you call india backwards, extra toxic, rape capital that these are classic american prejudices/judgements that people make about india Like that awareness is important You gotta seperate quality empericism from these judgements For ex, i see a lot of racists on twitter calling indians rapists and sexual abusers. Like theyre not seperating sociology from prejudice & profiling Like how do you toe the line? Like crime is high in black communities and also statistically validated But then how do you make sure that doesnt turn into "black ppl are violent criminals" ?
  9. But how are we measuring extra? India doess have those problems. But i also think that so does every country in a similar gdp/capita level? I'm not really getting why/how it's any worse I need relative stats. Not buying it
  10. @Leo Gura It def does exist but im just saying it probably happens in a lot of underdeveloped areas I just find it unfair india gets painted this way I just typed african and phillipines sex slavery into YouTube and found a dozen docs videos each
  11. Whats your evidence that india's rape culture is higher than other 3rd world countries - outside of individual analogies?
  12. You should also consider nuance in india as well. There are many safe areas within india - esp in nicer areas in cities I've been to india several times and never witnessed harrassment either (lived there for 1y+). But i also dont know what its like from the pov of a non brown woman so theres that I also have read abt white women that live in india that that say that they havent experienced harrassment Edit: I also do recall now, without doxxing details, i was in an area of where there were around 1k indian people and around a dozen non indian women, and at least from hearsay, i didnt hear of any incidents of harassment. So theres that
  13. no moderation is dangerous. it lets bad characters run loose without repurcussion. it will bring the quality down very low
  14. Bc theyre mostly wrong
  15. unconditional non-judgemental awareness to whatever arises both internally or externally
  16. @Ramanujan i feel you - i have similar goals. have you tried to implement anything from mastery/success principles? im curious what ur experience with it has been so far you need something to be mastering otherwise the principles won't really work
  17. @Ramanujan Okay got it thank you. What is your goal with mastery and these books? Like what result are you hoping from it?
  18. @Ramanujan what does mastery mean to you though? to me it means just putting a lot of time into a craft before being able to reap the rewards. like putting 10-20k hours into a career to get good fruits for example and there are a few good tactics in the book that you can use for that
  19. @Ramanujan i dont choose, they are both part of my theory. Both have great ideas. Mastery i like: 10,000h rule + general direction to mastery for success Deliberate practice Finding love and passion in growth and nuance Success principles i like: Visualization, surrounding yourself with successful people, developing incredible self belief, developing focus on one endeavor
  20. dawg youve been asking this same exact question for 4 years now from 2023 experience is the best book for success (real talk) sorry ;; js - you technically dont even need books for success. most successful people dont read books on success. js. their knowledge is majority from mentorship + action
  21. i really didnt like emeralds feminist ideas. particularly i remember when she would pigeonhole everyone in pua as a misogynist. And it was really difficult to get her to see past her generalizations and engage in good faith with people's ideas. She was incredibly paradigm locked. This was 2-3 years ago tho maybe she is different
  22. I feel there are way too many topics and not enough focus. Like personal development is sooo wide and I think people end up becoming generalists rather than specialists
  23. a tonn of fast and quality work, on the right type of work, surrounded by people who are good at that work while hopefully having some resources and competitive adv on ur side
  24. @integral Ive also noticed state being very helpful. For me ive noticed it as a combination of Intense self trust + desire to win + flow
