  1. Maybe that's why Krishna tells Arjuna to do your work and expect nothing in return, which will in turn provide a greater reward.
  2. Sadness is created from happiness, and happiness is created from sadness. A starving kid in Africa would feel tremendously happy when she got a loaf of bread at the same levels as you would feel happy when you eat at a seven star hotel. For most of us, it is not possible. Those who claim to make us as such are mostly marketing gimmicks. You can ask the enlightened ones here, but I can guarantee no one would tell they are blissful all the time. But I believe it is possible to be blissful must of the time when you meditate all the time while giving up any desire. There will come a point close to having no desire to do anything, not even to live. At this point, your baseline state of happiness will tremendously increase, due to practicing a combination of meditation and selflessness , and this state will be sustained without peaks and valleys because of your equanimous nature.
  3. Maybe you can try something like teaching local kids electronics for a small fee or for free. Or you can even make educational videos using YouTube. Gadgets do play an important role in our day to day life.
  4. Many people come to a saturation point after arriving at the conclusion that they have experienced everything in life. For some people, this turns out to be good as they stop seeking new experiences and try to lead a quiet and peaceful life, by trying to live in the present and cherishing the life they already have. But many other people get bored out of life, especially when it seems like there is nothing more to experience. For such people, there are few ways you can use to find new and infinite experiences, all fresh and hot. Before knowing the ways, it's important to know how our mind gets conditioned and becomes bored easily. Our mind adapts to any experience and make it as the standard to compare to for all future experiences. While this is helpful as a survival mechanism for scientific and technological development, by helping us constantly seek out better experiences and thus better ideas, it is nowhere helpful to let us having fun with new and already available experiences. Here are some ways you can break such conditioning: 1. Recognise that your beliefs affect what experiences you can have in a tremendous way. In other words, be open minded to new experiences. People are exposed constantly to new experiences from childhood. What we are exposed to depends on various factors such as culture, family upbringing, language, religion, etc. Based on our exposure, we tend to develop a liking to a particular set of experiences and make it as hobbies or source of entertainment or even work of passion. For example, if you are in US, you are mostly exposed to Hollywood films. If you and your father watched sci-fi films together, you will further restrict yourself to Hollywood sci-fi films. If you develop a liking for a particular actor, this will further be fine down to watching Hollywood sci-fi films of that particular actor. While it's not a bad thing to have favourites, your mind might try to restrict yourself to those particular titles without giving a chance to explore others. We make a judgement that something is not good based on our conditioning without experiencing it first hand. You may never have watched a Korean horror movie, but yet have already decided that it would be bad and I wouldn't watch it at any cost.By forcing ourself to explore new experiences, by pushing ourselves beyond our comfort zone, we can find that there are many more things in life we like, and would like to experience. You don't have to watch the horror movies further if you don't like, but without watching them at all or by watching one or two movies, if you come to the conclusion that all horror movies are bad, you will be missing out a lot. The same applies to all kinds of experiences. 2. Forget what you have experienced to experience it anew Imagine eating your favourite food for everyday in a week. The food no longer gives you the same joy that you had when you first tasted it and it may even go out of your favorites list. Imagine travelling to your favourite location every day. It no longer stays your favourite as you get bored with living the same experience again and again. If you leave a good gap between such experiences, the experience would look fresh and new. So, the less often you indulge in your favourite experiences, the more joyful it would become. 3. Diversify your experiences Now, if you follow the first advice, you would have been open to enormous choices and found new and multiple experiences. Now, the trick is not to get addicted to a single thing and avoid all other experiences. Allocating some fixed free time each day for each experience or hobby is a good way to diversify your experiences, as overdoing or restricting yourself to a single experience might lead to boredom and won't give you the same happiness as having multiple experiences. There are some exceptions, especially if you can be in a flow state during the experience. For such experiences, allocating more time for them and less time for other experiences might help. This also helps you to forget, and achieves the goal of second point. 4. Start from the average ones and from the past We mostly seek out the best experiences to be had, if it's available to us through time and money. If there is very limited time available with us and if we choose the best experiences to relish during that time, it's not a bad idea. But for those with more time, seeking the best experiences right away is an ideal way to get bored. Take the example of video games. We always see the reviews of which is the best ( and there is a lot of bias within these reviews) and select the latest and the best ones. After playing all of that, when we move to less rated and old ones, we judge it comparing to the best ones or find the experience to be less satisfying or reject them. This is applicable to a variety of experiences such as movies, travel destinations, adventure activities, books, YouTube videos, forums, websites, hotels , food and many others. The best way to experience everything with equal enthusiasm is to start from the average and the oldest experiences, depending on how much time you have, and move towards the best ones. Before that, you have to forget what you had already experienced as the best by fasting yourself without that experience for a few weeks to months, depending on how good you are at forgetting. If you feel missing out the best ones, you can choose experiences randomly instead of choosing only the best ones, or you can experience the best ones once in a while. That's it, hope you find new and interesting experiences with these ideas!
  5. I actually have an old pc and it can't run anything beyond 2015. I follow a habit of playing old ones first, since playing the new ones condition my mind to make the old ones look not as good as it really is.
  6. Before watching his latest video, my thought:That's what most dating experts do, right? After watching: Why did I think that? Am I assuming all dating experts are inclined towards men? Isn't it the other way round? Doesn't it depend on the individual person? Am I biased towards men? Did I develop a liking for him because of that video and supporting him in a biased manner? Am I trying to be humorous? Am I trying to seek attention through this comment? Am I trying to prove that I am at a higher level by asking all these questions? Am I trying to be overly honest? Am I acting like I am honest?Am I trying to confuse myself? Am I trying to confuse others? Am I thinking too much? After closing my eyes for a few minutes: Piece. Oops I mistyped it. Shut up.( To my thoughts, in a loving manner) End of the story
  7. Ego needs survival to be an ego and therefore it desires it, but ultimately what it wants I believe is to experience everything till infinity, that's what God wishes too. But as an ego, it mistakes that it should all by itself experience everything, and knowing itself is the best way to put an end to the unlimited desires the ego has. Then with the newfound knowledge, the ego continues its desires to experience life, but with peace and without a need to experience everything.

  9. 1. Purpose can be anything that gives value to the individual and something very personal, and shouldn't be based on or compared to what other's purpose are our what others think our purpose should be. 2. Finance is necessary especially if the individual is struggling to meet basic survival needs. Although there is nothing wrong in earning more than necessary, making it as a life goal and utilising all time towards it only adds the stress. 3. Social life forms an important part in happiness. But limiting the definition of social life to a fixed set of family and friends means a limited world view and experiences. Even if there is no family, you can find the same pleasure by socialising with others ( including pets or animals) with an open mind.
  10. The present condition is worse than actual mainly due to weather conditions such as winter climate and absence of rain. But Delhi and many Indian cities always have some of the worst pollution levels in the world due to the following reasons: 1. Farmers in nearby states burning farm wastes 2. Excessive vehicle traffic, especially diesel ones and private transports. 3. Excessive construction activities 4. Firecrackers
  11. They sure can ruin us, especially if we believe that what others do to be happy will also make us happy.
  12. The next step in knowing " I don't know" is to believe that " I don't need to know". This simply means you don't need the truth to survive or become happier or don't have to enforce what you believe as truth, especially if you are pursuing it out of curiosity. Although the desire for truth is what pushes many towards Spirituality, once you are in, you have to reduce the desire to know and instead focus on the tools that helps you to know without any expectations.
  13. When you are in an understanding of the connected and united state of the universe, either through direct experience or through insights, you realise that you can never miss out on anything because you are experiencing the entirety of humanity and beyond. That means what every human experiences, you have already experienced or experiencing or will experience. Imagine that you are a guy who forgets things after a year, and takes on new adventures every year. No matter whether you forget or not, you are still the same guy. Awakening helps to strengthen this insight. So, there is no worry of missing out. Coming to engagement with universe as an individual human, it depends on the individual's desires. Do you want excitement out of life? Then you have to engage constantly with the universe, but you will have to face suffering too. Do you want a peaceful life? Then you have to spend lots of time alone, and work towards reducing your desires. You will find enormous peace, but you will have very few new experiences. If you are already suffering, you have to come into acceptance with what you have and adjust your mind to it. If you want a balanced life, then you have to make your mind equanimous and open minded and seek out new experiences. You won't be as excited / happy /pleasurable as you were, but still you will be able to enjoy new experiences.Mindfulness and meditation will help the last two causes tremendously. No matter what kind of person you are, there are universal habits which can increase your baseline state of happiness. Such characters are based on expanding your ego, like compassion, gratitude, forgiveness and Unconditional love. Practicing these qualities in daily life along with meditation becomes a great tool in increasing your baseline state of happiness and peace.
  14. Practicing meditation for long to very long duration ( the time depends on skill or how good you are in freeing mind of thoughts ) has permanent effects on your state of mind and makes you eqanimous or non reactive. It would be easier to stay in a state of no thoughts and hence the connected state is achievable within a few minutes of meditative sitting. Apart from this long term meditation also raises your baseline state of happiness or consciousness, hence even though we would be non reactive, we would still not be a robot.
  15. The first one itself was terrific! I don't have the pc power to play the second one though. I think I would try it maybe after ten years.
  16. Sounds like a fun open world game! Here are some duplicate but funnier ones: Psychonauts series Overlord series Rise of Nations Warcraft 3 Bioshock series Tomb raider ( especially the older ones) Lego series ( Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, Batman etc.) Elder scrolls series Spore Minecraft
  17. He maybe extraordinary but he has never crossed the rules as far as I know.
  18. God gave us the desire to know everything by awakening to realise that we don't need everything.
  19. And God loves you too, and maybe he loves you more because you didn't direct the anger towards the loved ones who react to your anger, God either doesn't react at all or reacts with love.
  20. It is definitely good as a rough and tough estimate. But when we dwelve deeper into a person's character, we discover that the person is a mixture of many things or everything with different amplitudes.
  21. Interesting. Can you point out some people who did that? I can find claims of many such people, but I am never able to find some solid evidence like a videograph. Even if they did imagine and had some proof of that, they are never able to break much of the rules that the universe seem to have, including some spiritual rules.
  22. Plant too seems to fits well in the statement. Maybe that's what your intuition intended to type.
  23. Glad that you believe the dreams are crazy. The subconscious mind could very well be the creator, but the subconscious mind in itself may or may not be limited to our brain. Have you ever tried to question who is the creator within the dream? If not, try to do the same, interact with it and share if you found something interesting.
