  1. I would have to listen to the Libertarian YouTube video again for specific examples, but my advice would be simple: Don't call people names, don't insult people's intelligence, and don't swear if you can help it. All of those things unnecessarily trigger people and don't help get your message across to skeptics. Leo has toned it down in his recent videos, and I do appreciate that.
  2. I was directly referring to when Leo said: I'm watching today's video right now.
  3. I haven't seen that video, but I know what you are talking about. I saw Leo’s video about Libertarianism, and it put me off. He used inappropriate language and was incredibly blunt in that video. I am like Leo--I used to be a Libertarian until I came to similar conclusions as Leo did. However, I would not be insulting people just because I saw some things in their political philosophy that they didn't yet. That is not the way to persuade anyone to my point of view. Persuasion requires empathy and respect, both of which seemed lacking in that video. My assessment comes from a point of view that agreed with Leo, so I wasn't personally offended, but it was just embarrassing to watch. I felt bad for the Libertarians watching the video, and I quit watching Leo’s videos for a while because I didn't want to be associated with that type of communication.
  4. Somewhere in Texas.
  5. There is @Nobody_Here, and now you know the story behind my name.
  6. @Leo Gura's bluntness doesn't bother me because I can be blunt right back. There is a difference between bluntness and simply being straightforward, though. I wish he showed more tact sometimes. Even though I agree with his assessment 90% of the time, I think his point would have persuaded certain people in a few scenarios if he had a more discreet delivery. Of course, others are simply trolling--being blunt is perfect for that.
  7. It sounds like she is an entrepreneur in Stage Red. Red is not all bad; it has some positive aspects as well such as entrepreneurial success. That said, Red has a lot to learn and I do not admire it. Personally, I would aim to be Stage Yellow or Turquoise. Give yourself time to reach that stage, though. Also, you are both very young and have plenty of time to succeed (or seriously mess up) your lives. Give yourself some time to reach success. Don’t bother comparing yourself to others; only compare yourself to who you were yesterday, as that is the most justifiable measuring stick.
  8. The course sounds great, but I think I have a good grasp of my life purpose, and I'm not going to drop $250 for a single video. Thank you anyway.
  9. @asifarahim Buy this book: https://theturquoisebrickroad.com/product/book/ It ships to most countries. I recommend a hardcopy over the kindle version as the kindle version did not display properly on my phone and computer. The book has a section about each stage in Gravesian theory. If the book is too expensive for you (it's worth it but admittedly pricey) then check out one resource I found from the book that is available online: https://www.presencing.org/aboutus/theory-u Good luck, hope that helps.
  10. This should be turned into a video topic.
  11. You can make a lot of money doing blue-collar work if that’s your thing. But don't forget to factor in benefits such as insurance. The CPA in your example could be making $100k when factoring in all employment benefits. Of course, blue-collar jobs can provide benefits also. A lot of technicians in the aerospace industry make six-figure salaries plus benefits because their skill set is in high demand.
  12. I wouldn't call “STFU” spiritual maturity. ? That's not what spiral dynamics is at all. Spiral dynamics is about vMemes, which is somewhat like a general worldview. Being at Stage Yellow means I think systematically in most aspects of my life and take into account the interconnection of all things. I wouldn't call myself spiritually mature. That is not something the original spiral dynamics covers. Maybe you are thinking of Wilber’s take on spiral dynamics. Thank you for your comment.
  13. I can relate to this. I'm at stage Yellow cognitively, but not at all areas of my life. I am indeed not enlightened--no one will confuse me with the Dalai Lama or Eckhart Tolle. I get triggered by the lower levels sometimes. I recently realized that one of my main triggers is that people do things that are counter to what they want or their survival--which is very Yellow. Yellow is, in a way, Stage Beige round 2, so I'm very interested in survival. However, most stages are not, and I'm learning not to let that get to me. Not everyone has survival as a main priority, and that's okay.
  14. @ZenSwift Your life purpose is: “I teach people how to understand themselves to create a peaceful mind and a passionate life.” How would you apply your life purpose to this situation, and yourself?
  15. I've learned how to blend in and use the system to my advantage, but I am still authentic. For example, at work, I can follow the dress code and say the right things, but I will not compromise on my most important values. Sometimes that causes stress, but I have learned not compromising on the important things is worth it.
  16. In every test I’ve taken regarding Spiral Dynamics, I’ve tested at Stage Yellow. I’m a systems analyst who work in aerospace and turn 40 in a few weeks. I help transition organizations into more efficacious ones using up-to-date processes and technologies. The organizations I deal with tend to be red, blue, or orange. I spend a lot of time alone. I live in a US state that is red-blue, so I am a general mismatch with the culture. I do occasionally get harassed, but I’m usually able to diffuse the situation or get the authorities involved if it gets bad. Finding a partner has been challenging, but I am largely self-sufficient and view marriage as a life-enhancer only if it's done right with a best-fit partner. I do not tolerate abuse in any form.
  17. Today, I found out another one of my parents’ friends died of COVID yesterday. He was anti-vaccine as of last Wednesday, when he posted an anti-vaccine TikTok video with hashtags, “#vaccine #covid19 #bs #politics #fyp #lmao #teamnovaccine #mybodymychoice.” Edit: Yes, I double-checked: Anti-vaccine on Wednesday, dead of COVID on Thursday. This is serious stuff, folks. And now he’s dead. He died on the way to the hospital in an ambulance because he could no longer breathe. There’s really nothing left for me to say, because that really says everything I’ve been attempting to communicate to the naysayers. I’m out of this thread *mic drop*
  18. @impulse9 But what you're doing is throwing out the baby with the bathwater--and in this situation, you're the baby.
  19. @impulse9 Well, I'm sorry about your friend’s rare adverse reaction, but all vaccines have adverse reactions even at version 10.0 for a small number of people. If you're waiting for the perfect vaccine for no bad reactions for anyone, you're going to be waiting for the rest of your life.
  20. Less than a fraction of a percent of vaccinated Americans to date have died of covid after being fully vaccinated -- and the majority of those who died after being vaccinated had been older with underlying health conditions. The vast majority of Americans hospitalized with covid these days have not been vaccinated at all.
  21. @impulse9 Bad analogy. An adverse reaction to a psychiatric med typically has reversible effects -- in other words, don't retake the medication, and you'll be fine. Vaccines are used to train the immune system to fight against diseases when your immune system has little or no natural defense. Don't get a vaccine if you have a medical condition that prohibits it or if you have specific allergies, but generally, getting the vaccine outweighs the downsides for most healthy people. This applies to any vaccine, not just covid. Many professions require vaccines for all kinds of legitimate reasons. The US government will probably not do a vaccine mandate for all because of political reasons, but employers can legally require it for their employees. I imagine soon it won't be easy to do much without a vaccination. The practical thing is to take care of it now while it's easy to get a free vaccine.
  22. @impulse9 , weren't you the one who said earlier you won't take a vaccine to prevent an infectious disease because you were traumatized by psychiatrists who gave you ADHD meds? Speaking as someone who also just got off ADHD meds, my opinion is that’s pretty dumb, whether you are an IT Professional or not. (I'm a vaccinated IT professional.)
  23. @Federico del pueblo I know plenty of men society would label as "ugly" who are married with kids. Their partner thinks that they look great or at least acceptable enough to marry and to be the father of their children. Looks are in the eyes of the beholder. I agree with @Harlen Kelly to put your mental energy elsewhere as much as you can. Blackpill is indeed a tragedy. But focus on improving yourself instead of getting upset over people who may never get it.
  24. @fopylo I would like to answer your questions, but I am not 100% sure what your focus is from your topic post. Is the goal of your post to finish reading a book or to not be so neurotic (or both)?
  25. Just for fun, I'm going to challenge the assumptions I see in your post: Why is life a zero-sum game to you? Why isn't there enough of <fill-in-the-blank> for everyone? Why are people brick walls and enemies when they could be bridges and friends instead? Why does your success necessarily mean others fail? Why does dating mean taking a woman away from another man? She might be single, to begin with. Why would creating a new business necessarily take away people from an old business? You don't have to focus on stealing clients, just build something new and create new clients. Why does making yourself happy mean other people are unhappy, that it's at the expense of others? My guess is that it's not true happiness if your happiness makes others miserable. Am I (someone you have never met and know next to nothing about) a bad person because I am happy?
